<p>Job Title:</p> <p>HVAC Mechanic, Engineer, or Sr. Engineer</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>Physical Plant</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Rhodes College will be closed for Winter Break December 20, 2025-January 4, 2026.</p> <p>Rhodes College is hiring two positions for Physical Plant, which may be filled at any of the following levels, based on the selected candidates' experience and qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>HVAC Mechanic</p> </li><li> <p>HVAC Engineer</p> </li><li> <p>Sr. HVAC Engineer</p> </li></ul> <p>To be considered for an opportunity, applicants must meet the job requirements for one of the three positions listed. A complete application includes a cover letter, a resume, and the names of three references.</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Tuesday thru Saturday, 7:30am - 4:30pm</p> <ul> <li>The shift will change in July for 6 months to Tuesday thru Saturday, 2:30pm - 11:30pm and will rotate every six months. </li></ul> <p>Job Title: HVAC Mechanic</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The HVAC Mechanic performs skilled duties including the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, ventilation, and control equipment.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Repairs, replaces, sets up, calibrates, and operates control equipment to ensure efficient operation of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoots and performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems assigned to a/c, heating, and ventilation, plumbing and electrical.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs inspections of all A/C and heating equipment and systems, including water lines, valves, drives, belts, steam traps, expansion tanks, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates and assists in maintenance of electrical/pneumatic control systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Cleans and maintains wall heaters, residential furnaces; replaces air filters.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors inventory and reorders parts and supplies as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds to emergencies during evening and nighttime hours.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school degree or GED equivalency, preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Three (3) years of work experience in A/C and heating field required.</p> </li><li> <p>Universal Refrigerant recovery certificate required.</p> </li><li> <p>First-class steam or first-class refrigeration license for Memphis/Shelby County preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.</p> </li><li> <p>A valid driver's license, required.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess excellent customer service skills utilizing strong analytical skills, excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills, and be detail-oriented.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, required.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to see sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the job.
