The ideal candidate will inspire creativity and artisitic expression in young learners whle providing standards-based instruction across all core subjects. This teacher will create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment that integrates the visual and performing arts into daily learning and fosters a lifelong appreciation for the arts.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and deliver standards-based, developmentally appropriate instruction across all core subjects (ELA, math, science, social studies) within the framework of a visual and performing arts theme. </li><li>Integrate visuals arts, music, movement, drama, and other creative disiplines into instructional planing to deepend student understanding and engagement. </li><li>Encourage self-expression, imagination, and artistic risk-taking through hands-on, arts infused learning experiences. </li><li>Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom culture where diversity is valued and celebrated. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to align instruction with the school's visual and performing arts mission and grade-level expectations. </li><li>Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative methods; differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs. </li><li>Engage families and the school community in support of student learning, artistic showcases, and creative performances. </li><li>Participate in ongoing professional development related to arts integration, primary years pedagogy, and best teaching practices. </li><li>Use technology to enhance learning and connect students to the global community. </li><li>Maintain accurate student records, meet deadlines, and uphold school and district policies. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master's preferred). </li><li>Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills. </li><li>Demonstrated experience or interest in the visual and/or performing arts. </li><li>Proven ability to teach diverse learners using culturally responsive practices </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED SKILLS AND TRAITS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to adapt to various learning styles and needs of young learners. </li><li>Passion for fostering innovation, creativity, and critical thinking. </li></ul> <p>SALARY: based on experience and NLEA contract.</p> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Candidates from diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p>
