<p>Description</p> <p>The Assistant Librarian plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the St. Louis County Law Library. This full-time position reports to the Director of Library Services and provides front-line support at the service desk, assists patrons with legal reference inquiries, ensures the organization and maintenance of the library space, and supports the Director in administrative, technical, and supervisory functions. The Assistant Librarian may also be assigned special projects by the Director as needed.</p> <p>Interested parties should send resume and cover letter to Caitlin Argyros, Director of Library Services, at Caitlin.Argyros@courts.mo.gov by 5pm on June 13th.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Open and close the Law Library alongside part-time library clerks as needed </li><li>Assist patrons in locating and using legal resources in both print and electronic formats </li><li>Assist patrons with printing and copying materials; provide basic troubleshooting for Library computer and printer issues </li><li>Report persistent technical issues to the Director and work with Courthouse IT staff to resolve if necessary </li><li>Receive, sort, and shelve incoming mail and library materials </li><li>Answer telephone and in-person inquiries about the Library and Courthouse; direct calls and patrons to the appropriate Courthouse departments as needed </li><li>Monitor and manage cash collection for printing and copying services; maintain accurate records of money collected for regular review by the Director </li><li>Ensure copier pay stations are stocked with change, and report low reserves of both cash and coins to the Director </li><li>Maintain a clean and organized Library environment by reshelving materials and tidying shared spaces </li><li>Manage Library office supplies (including paper and toner for printers and copiers), and notify the Director when supplies need to be reordered </li><li>Assist the Director in training and supervising part-time library clerks </li><li>Enforce Library policies in a consistent and professional manner, in accordance with guidance from the Director </li><li>Manage day-to-day operations of the Library in the absence of the Director </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution </li><li>Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a library or working with legal resources (e.g. Westlaw, VAMS) </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively </li><li>Familiarity with general library procedures, including print and online research techniques </li><li>Ability to lift and carry library materials up to 25 pounds and perform other physical tasks associated with routine library work </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school </li><li>Experience in a law library, court library, or similar legal setting </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Compensation and Benefits</p> <p>This is a non-merit, full-time position (40 hours per week), with a pay range of $20-$24 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
