Applications received after December 20, 2024 may be reviewed depending on search progress and needs but are not guaranteed full consideration.</p> <p>_<strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of the Environment & Life Sciences (CELS) at The University of Rhode Island (URI) invites applications for the position of full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in Biological Sciences to begin August 2025.</p> <p>The successful candidate will teach in the two-semester series of human anatomy and physiology. The candidate will support URI's mission to provide students with academic experiences that expose them to different perspectives, life experiences, and ways of knowing. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to the design and implementation of inclusive pedagogical models that enhance a sense of belonging and academic success among undergraduate students from diverse cultures, disciplines, and academic backgrounds. Other assignments may include teaching a course in the candidate's area of specialization and student advising. The position is not tenure eligible, but is renewable based upon performance, funding and program needs. The position is a career opportunity, with potential for promotion.</p> <p>The CELS website (http://web.uri.edu/cels/) provides more information about the department and research facilities at the University.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's degree in biological sciences or a life sciences field at the time of application.</p> </li><li> <p>At least one year of college-level teaching experience in Human Anatomy and Physiology.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of students and to employ inclusive teaching pedagogies.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to function independently and collaboratively in a complex academic environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated evidence of excellent teaching.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred:</p> <ol> <li> <p>A Ph.D. in Biological Sciences.</p> </li><li> <p>Undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with online teaching.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience using a secondary education learning management system such as Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard, WebCT.</p> </li></ol> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>The University of Rhode Island is an equal-opportunity employer.
