Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Job Overview:</p> <p>The Public Relations Specialist will plan, deliver, and manage a broad range of public relation and communication strategies for the Water Utilities department. Incorporate public outreach as a core management component of strategic planning and day to day operations. Establish and maintain effective working partnerships with stakeholder groups.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and manage proactive initiative to promote Water Utilities services and build key relationships with stakeholders using public relations tolls such as media, research publicity and engagement. </li><li>Includes shaping key messages and narrative and managing communication processes and products. </li><li>Deliver a strategic communication plan that clearly identifies with whom the message will be communicated, what needs to be communicated, how best to communicate the message, and how to maintain the contact. </li><li>Implement consistent, multifaceted, and sustained outreach. </li><li>Identify proactive media opportunities and conduct outreach that can generate additional positive media coverage for the Water Utilities especially as projects emerge. </li><li>Train Water Utilities' leadership to play a successful role in outreach. </li><li>Coordinate events and community meetings as needed and be department lead for all public messaging. </li><li>Communicate clearly and effectively through presentations and written materials to community leaders, elected officials and other stakeholders. </li><li>Counsel staff on written response; monitor, edit and evaluate key content for media requests, website, social media, or reports to regulatory agencies. </li><li>Mentor and lead employees, evaluate performance, and monitor progress of initiatives through metrics/deliverables. </li><li>Manage operating and projects budgets. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Minimum of four (4) years of related experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
