<p>About Maple Grove, MN</p> <p>Maple Grove is a forward thinking, thriving community in the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We are home to over 70,000 residents with a projected population of 90,000 by 2040 with 2,500 acres of undeveloped land. The City of Maple Grove is proud to employ over 250 benefit-earning employees, 500+ part-time, casual, temporary, seasonal employees, and 100 paid-on-call firefighters to staff our many departments. We provide public safety, public works, community and economic development, parks & recreation, and many other important public services to a growing community. </p> <p>The Position</p> <p>Come join the City of Maple Grove's Recreation department! We're hiring dance instructors who are looking to help teach the basics of tap, ballet, and jazz dancing. In this role, you will work with children of preschool age to 3rd grade. In this position, you will help to create a fun and energetic environment where you craft and teach dance routines and provide positive encouragement to an eager group of young dancers. </p> <p>Interviews conducted as applications are received - apply immediately</p> <ul> <li>Prepare weekly lesson plans for each level of tap, ballet and jazz. </li><li>Choreograph dance routines. </li><li>Supervise children using positive discipline and maintain a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. </li><li>Work with children in a group setting or on an individual basis to teach specific dance techniques. </li><li>Plan a demonstration of skills learned at the end of each session for parents to view. </li><li>Communicate general information to parents. Respond to parent's questions regarding child's ability. </li><li>Keep informed of new trends and techniques as it relates to dance. </li><li>Have complete understanding of emergency and accident procedures. </li><li>Complete attendance records, accident reports and all other reports as requested. </li><li>Request music and materials as needed. </li><li>Perform other related duties as requested by Supervisor. </li></ul> <p> Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently. </li><li>Ability to choreograph dance routines. </li><li>Ability to interact with others. </li><li>Willingness to work late afternoons, evening or weekend hours. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>One - two years of experience teaching dance to young children </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <p>Environmental Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Indoor spaces </li></ul> <p>Physical Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Standing, dancing. </li></ul>
