Nestled just minutes away from Washington, DC, Prince George's County combines urban vibrancy with serene surroundings, offering an ideal setting to live, work, and enjoy life.</p> <p>We are Prince George's Proud!</p> <p>The Prince George's County Departmentof Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T)is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill aConstruction Standards Inspector I/II (Construction Standards Inspector 1A)Grade A16/18position in the Storm Drain Team 1 Division.</p> <p>About the Position:</p> <p>The Construction Standards Inspector I/II position is critical in supporting DPW& T, Storm Drain Maintenance operations. ·This is entry to full performance level technical inspection and code enforcement work to ensure compliance with codes, ordinances, and standards governing construction. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for construction management of contractor's work on various types of Storm Drain Maintenance sites to ensure the contractor's work is performed in accordance with project plans, scope of work, specifications and contract, codes, ordinance and standards. Sites will be inspected daily to ensure proper methods and means of work and materials are utilized on construction sites. The incumbent will ensure compliance with codes, ordinances, and standards governing construction in specific functional areas (e.g., site/ development, site grading, building, residential/commercial, right-of-way, sediment/grading/erosion/storm water control, material. Completes inspection of public service request for OSDM; accesses, reviews, updates and closes service request, and demonstrates proficiency in utilizing County GIS systems for work request location, RoW, and ownership information, etc. Work is performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures and may include physical activities such as repeated bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds. This position requires a valid Driver's License at all times.</p> <p>About the Agency:</p> <p>The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area -- all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. DPW&T's workforce keeps the County's various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects and more.</p> <p>Examples of Work</p> <ul> <li>Inspects all phases of work to include grading, paving/resurfacing, concrete repair and replacement of stormwater management facilities and drainage related projects to ensure compliance with County specifications, standards, approved plans and ordinances. </li><li>Utilizes the County's GIS system and PG Atlas GIS System and ROW search daily to confirm work locality. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of each system. </li><li>Inspects public service requests pertaining to County roadway issues such as sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt, concrete, beautification (litter, illegal dumping, trees), under drains, stormwater management facilities and drainage related matters. </li><li>Inspects and carefully examines all work performed to, confirm that substandard work is neither performed nor accepted. Reports work determined to be in non-- conformance with the established standards or contract documents to immediate supervisor within one working day. </li><li>Evaluates and makes recommendations for maintenance, repair or replacement. </li><li>Conducts inventory and condition assessments of county asphalt, concrete and drainage infrastructure. Identifies locations requiring code enforcement or compliance action. </li><li>Prepares and submits daily, weekly and monthly reports on contract activities. </li><li>Performs daily on-site field visits to construction projects to monitor construction sites to determine present status and job progress in relation to completion schedule. </li><li>Ensures the intent of the contract plans and specifications are met during construction and recommends field changes (as needed) to supervisor or County Engineer to meet the project intent. </li><li>Provides daily input into Department's Work Management Program for all investigated service requests. </li><li>Oversee work of contractors ensuring compliance with County code and specifications and provides pictures of productivity. </li><li>Thoroughly assesses and inspects request/complaints while informing chain of command with issues or required action needed. </li><li>Surveys pumping stations and flood control facilities to verify proper drainage during weather-related events to maintain compliance. </li><li>Performs inspections and records routine. </li><li>Serves as liaison with other agencies, residents and community members. </li><li>Participates as an Essential employee in the Department's Snow and Ice Control Program and other emergency or special activities. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school or G.E.D. </li><li>At least one (1) year of experience performing inspection or code enforcement work on roadways or right-of-way </li></ul> <p>An equivalent combination of relevant education, experience and training may also be accepted.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Prior storm drain related experience in sediment/erosion, grading and storm water control </li><li>Past knowledge and experience operating and managing storm water facilities such as levees and pumping stations </li></ul> <p>EACH APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Job Location:</p> <p>8400 D'Arcy Rd.
