<p>Kenyon College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Biology starting in July 2026. We seek a broadly trained microbiologist whose research focuses on prokaryotes. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching with strong academic support, inclusive course experiences, and effective mentoring for our diverse student population. Teaching expectations are 5 courses per year, including introductory biology, Microbiology and Experimental Microbiology, and upper level courses in the candidate's area of expertise (e.g., Bacterial Pathogenesis, Bacterial Genomics, Bacteria in Biotechnology, or Bacteria in Public Health). Opportunities exist for interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship within and outside the sciences. We expect a vigorous research program that involves undergraduate students, leads to publications, and has potential to attract extramural funding. Applicants must hold a Ph.D degree; post-doctoral experience is preferred. We encourage applications from qualified individuals of all backgrounds. A complete application will be composed of 1) a cover letter; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; 3) a ~2-page statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy that addresses the applicant's experiences and plans for teaching a diverse student body; 4) a statement of the applicant's research and scholarship that includes plans for collaborative research with undergraduates; 5) contact information for three professional references; and 6) unofficial transcript. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website: http://careers.kenyon.edu. Review of applications will begin on September 1, 2025. Please direct questions to Natalie Wright, Search Committee Chair (wright1@kenyon.edu).
