<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>Statewide</p> <p>Under close supervision, at the entry-level, these positions perform professional work in a training capacity providing a wide variety of engineering services or creative works to support the implementation of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) across the nine-county area served by the Beckley District Office. Responsibilities include conducting EPA-mandated Sanitary Surveys of public water systems (PWSs) and performing construction inspections for projects funded by the Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council (IJDC) and the Drinking Water Treatment Revolving Fund (DWTRF). The position also involves collecting critical data during emergency events-such as floods, blizzards, spills, and droughts-to support public health protection and engineering response. Additional duties include providing technical assistance to PWS operators; assisting in the instruction of PWS operator training courses to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements; and advising public officials, engineers, utility operators, property developers, and the general public on best practices in public health engineering in accordance with §16-1-9 of the West Virginia State Code.</p> <p>Click The APPLY Link To Apply Online</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Substitution: Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university with a major in Civil, Electrical, Electrical Design, Mechanical, Chemical or Mining Engineering Technology.</p> <p>Special Requirement: A valid driver's license is required.</p> <p>NOTE: At the appointing agency's discretion, competitive candidates may receive probationary appointment pending official verification of the qualifying degree. The qualifying degree must be verified before the employee may be certified permanent.</p>
