<p>The Legal Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all firm operations and activities comply with applicable law and related best practices. This person will work with investment professionals and technology specialists to ensure that all firm contracts and operations comply with relevant law and internal controls. The position requires advanced knowledge of various investment structures, legal negotiations, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to independently manage complex compliance and operational initiatives.</p> <p>Ensign Peak Advisors is an affiliated organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In support of the Church's global mission, Ensign Peak Advisors manages the financial reserves of the Church and provides cash management services to fund Church operations.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Review and comment on various legal documents, including non-disclosure agreements, operation and limited partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents used in the finance industry.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with outside legal counsel to ensure that legal documents comply with internal legal policies and controls</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor adherence to regulatory and internal compliance obligations, including portfolio and transactional compliance with applicable law.</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with internal investment professionals to collect, maintain, and safeguard key documentation and records</p> </li><li> <p>Identify risks, evaluate control effectiveness, and recommend enhancements to internal legal controls and compliance matters</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain an understanding of a variety of legal structures related to different investment strategies</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and deliver clear, accurate, and timely evaluations of legal matters impacting proposed transactions to investment professionals</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate across business units to support compliance initiatives and operational improvements</p> </li><li> <p>Stay current on regulatory developments and industry best practices through ongoing training and professional engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Juris Doctor</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of financial markets, investment arrangements, and applicable regulatory requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and appropriately escalate issues</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communication, organizational, and project management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to analyze complex business processes and associated technology controls</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum of 3+ years of experience in providing legal services in connection with a variety of investment transactions and regulatory matters</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience with compliance frameworks, internal legal controls, and operational risk management practices</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>In-house counsel or law firm positions dealing with investment documents and successfully closing transactions in a timely manner</p> </li><li> <p>Current Bar membership or willingness to take bar examination</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Ensign Peak Advisors is an affiliated organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
