<p>The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready, should any act of terrorism occur.</p> <p>Join our team and play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly. </p> <p>This position will involve the construction, relocation, maintenance and repair of secondary underground electric distribution lines and systems. Position assists in the installation and maintenance of up to 350KW stand-by generators, switch gear, transformers, and other components of an electrical system and construct extension or replacement lines to the existing system as they relate to VIPER sites statewide. Work is performed under the general supervision of a VIPER Network Engineer (Facilities Team Supervisor) and is reviewed by NC DOI inspections. Position provides preventative and corrective maintenance on stand-by and emergency generators within the defined VIPER maintenance schedule. A major part of this job is the repair and maintenance of backup emergency power generators/systems and the employee is expected to develop extensive knowledge in this area. This job requires flexibility to work long hours. Work is normally accomplished alone but may require employee to work with others to complete tasks as needed. Job requires that employee work with vendors to obtain supplies and repair parts as needed.</p> <p>North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals. </p> <p>The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. All work history and education (including accurate dates of employment/attendance) must be documented on the application.
