<p>The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. Position assists in the installation and maintenance of up to 350KW stand-by generators, switch gear, transformers, and other components of an electrical system and construct extension or replacement lines to the existing system as they relate to VIPER sites statewide. Work is performed under the general supervision of a VIPER Network Engineer (Facilities Team Supervisor) and is reviewed by NC DOI inspections. Position provides preventative and corrective maintenance on stand-by and emergency generators within the defined VIPER maintenance schedule.  A major part of this job is the repair and maintenance of backup emergency power generators/systems and the employee is expected to develop extensive knowledge in this area. This job requires flexibility to work long hours. Work is normally accomplished alone but may require employee to work with others to complete tasks as needed.
