<p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Systems Engineer to manage, design, and optimize the operational efficiency of our data center infrastructure. This role will be responsible for overseeing critical systems, including HVAC systems, power distribution, backup generators, and other key components, ensuring optimal performance, redundancy, and uptime. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a deep understanding of data center environments.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or with reasonable accommodation.</p> <p>Data Center Infrastructure Design and Optimization:</p> <ul> <li>Design, implement, and optimize data center systems, including HVAC systems, power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and backup generators. </li><li>Analyze and recommend improvements to the data center infrastructure to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability. </li><li>Lead the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring it integrates seamlessly into the data center infrastructure. </li><li>Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues with IT equipment (servers, switches, etc) . o Assist with remote configuration changes, equipment resets, and other tasks as required. o Track equipment and supplies, monitoring levels, and ordering replacements when necessary. </li></ul> <p>HVAC System Management:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the maintenance, operation, and optimization of the data center's HVAC systems to ensure appropriate cooling and environmental conditions for equipment. </li><li>Work closely with the facilities team to design, implement, and upgrade HVAC systems for energy efficiency and redundancy. </li><li>Conduct routine assessments and troubleshooting to prevent HVAC failures and minimize operational disruptions. </li></ul> <p>Power Distribution and Management:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor, maintain, and optimize power distribution systems, including PDUs, UPS systems, and electrical wiring to ensure continuous power delivery to critical data center operations. </li><li>Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment to avoid downtime and mitigate risk. </li><li>Design and implement strategies for power redundancy, including load balancing and failover mechanisms. </li></ul> <p>Backup Generator Operations:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the operational readiness of backup generators and manage regular testing, inspections, and maintenance to guarantee reliability during power outages. </li><li>Develop and execute protocols for generator load testing and preventive maintenance. </li><li>Manage fuel levels and other logistical aspects of generator operations to ensure emergency power capabilities are always available. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Monitoring and Reporting:</p> <ul> <li>Utilize advanced DCIM monitoring systems to track environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and airflow within the data center. </li><li>Implement best practices for optimizing energy efficiency while maintaining the required environmental parameters. </li><li>Generate regular reports on system performance, environmental status, and energy consumption for senior management. </li></ul> <p>Incident Response and Troubleshooting:</p> <ul> <li>Respond quickly to data center incidents, diagnosing and resolving issues with HVAC systems, electrical distribution, generators, and other critical infrastructure. </li><li>Lead root cause analysis efforts for any infrastructure failures, ensuring timely corrective actions are taken to minimize downtime. </li><li>Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures, particularly around power and environmental systems. </li></ul> <p>Compliance and Safety:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure all data center operations adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. </li><li>Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA). </li><li>Develop and maintain safety procedures, ensuring all team members are properly trained and equipped to work safely in the data center environment. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration and Documentation:</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with other engineering teams, data center managers, and IT operations staff to ensure smooth and efficient integration of all infrastructure components. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all infrastructure systems, including schematics, maintenance logs, and incident reports. </li><li>Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and staff as needed. </li></ul> <p>Regular and reliable attendance.</p> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.</p> <p>Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.</p> <p>Exhibit an understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH). Knowledge of storage standards and best practices for healthcare and enterprise data.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's Degree (IT-related field, Cybersecurity, or Business Administration with a technology focus) or equivalent relevant experience.</p> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations and maintenance. </li><li>In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with HVAC systems, electrical power distribution (PDUs, UPS), and backup generators in a data center setting. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. </li><li>Excellent communication and teamwork skills. </li><li>Relevant certifications (e.g., Data Center Certified Associate, Certified Data Center Professional) are a plus. </li><li>Experience with designing, commissioning, and optimizing critical infrastructure systems to ensure high availability and reliability. </li></ul> <p>Certifications:</p> <p>Certifications such as Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Center Management Professional (CDCMP), or other relevant industry certifications preferred.</p> <p>Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Strong understanding of data center infrastructure design, including HVAC systems, electrical systems, and backup power solutions.</p> <p>Experience with power and cooling optimization strategies, as well as energy-efficient technologies.</p> <p>Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and environmental monitoring systems.</p> <p>Ability to use troubleshooting and diagnostic tools to resolve technical issues.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
