<p>School Social Worker JobID: 2541</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services/Social Worker</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/27/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>District</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>07/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>School Social Worker</p> <p>Tenure-Track Position</p> <p>LOCATION: District</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>New Jersey State Certification with appropriate endorsements. </li><li>Exceptional writing, oral, interpersonal, and analytical skills. </li><li>Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. </li><li>Required criminal history check and proof of US citizenship or legal alien status. </li><li>Such alternative or additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board of Education may deem appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Bilingual (Spanish) candidates preferred.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Observation, Evaluation and Assessment of Students</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prepares a Social History Assessment by:</p> </li><li> <p>Employs individual interviews and other appropriate contacts with parents or guardians, school personnel, and collateral sources to secure social history data.</p> </li><li> <p>Studies developmental and family history, socio-economic and cultural differences, and educational data to provide a basis for understanding of the social and family dynamics related to the student's education.</p> </li><li> <p>Shares findings in writing and orally with appropriate staff members as well as parents or guardians in order to provide the necessary interventions and programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with Child Study Team (CST) members to monitor and evaluate the behavioral and/or social-emotional needs of students eligible for special education and related services, both in and out of the district, through observations, review of school records, staff conferences, and written observation reports to determine the appropriateness of the educational program for the student's development and makes recommendations for change, where indicated.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as the liaison between the student and other professionals providing services (i.e., other CST members, school counselors, teachers, specialists, administrators, and medical personnel) to provide effective communication and a coordinated behavioral intervention program for the student.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and maintains appropriate written reports and records.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates as a member of the Child Study Team (CST) in decisions regarding classification, recommended placement, special educational programs, and related services.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with the CST members to coordinate, develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Individual Educational Program (IEP).</p> </li><li> <p>Assumes responsibility for developing specified areas of the IEP when it focuses on the School Social Worker's professional area by identifying objectives, designing instructional strategies, and recommending materials tailored to the needs of the specific student.</p> </li><li> <p>Interviews students as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Observes students in special education classes and/or other settings during the school day on an ongoing basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs follow-up activities and consultation, short-term counseling, and crisis intervention as part of the CST services.</p> </li></ul> <p>Interaction with Students, Parents, School and Community</p> <ul> <li>Plans home visits or office interviews with family members when appropriate or upon request of the building, department, or district administrator. </li><li>Maintains an ongoing relationship with the parent or guardian for the purpose of sharing information regarding educational planning and programming for the student; assisting the family in utilizing appropriate community resources; and providing counseling to family members and/or the student to facilitate social adjustment. </li><li>Initiates, facilitates, and maintains liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet special needs. Refers parents or guardians and the student to agencies, when appropriate. </li><li>Counsels students and/or consults with parents or guardians regarding social adjustment. </li><li>Instructs parent and family programs as needed. </li><li>Serves as a case manager (N.J.A.C.6A:14), as assigned, and maintains appropriate case records. </li><li>Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information in student files. </li><li>Works with the administrative staff to facilitate the implementation of social adjustment factors for students within and beyond the school or district. </li><li>Performs all duties required as a member of the Child Study Team and complies with the procedures and protocol outlined in administrative code, state and federal laws, Board policy and the Office for Special Services. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development</p> <ul> <li>Utilizes the evaluation process for self-reflection and personal growth. </li><li>Maintains and improves professional competence by keeping abreast of current developments, new trends, and contemporary interpretations within and beyond the role of the CST member. </li><li>Utilizes technology relevant to the position of case manager in the School Social Worker role. </li><li>Participates in articulation between the elementary and middle school programs. </li><li>Attends district-sponsored professional development opportunities. </li><li>Participates in building and department meetings. </li><li>Serves on committees related to the position. </li><li>Seeks professional development opportunities outside of the school district for areas of professional interest or need. </li><li>Maintains all required or mandated training programs and updates related to the position. </li></ul> <p>District/Building Procedures</p> <ul> <li>Follows policy and procedures related to school safety practices. </li><li>Monitors administration of assessments to ensure that students are following procedures as outlined as well as maintaining security and confidentiality for all assessments. </li><li>Implements guidelines and procedures as outlined for school trips and other functions off school grounds. </li><li>Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and school-sponsored activities, functions, and events connected to the position. </li><li>Implements Board policy as outlined. </li></ul> <p>Communication</p> <ul> <li>Maintains parent/guardian communication in accordance with district policy and building protocol. </li><li>Attends meetings at the department, school, and district levels. </li><li>Works closely with administrators and school counselors regarding student placement and progress. </li><li>Communicates concerns to the appropriate administrator. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties</p> <ul> <li>Maintains confidentiality in all areas of the assignment. </li><li>Assumes other duties and responsibilities incidental to the office or as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. </li><li>Adheres to all district policies and regulations. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION: As per negotiated agreement.</p> <p>Interested applicants should apply online at www.jamesburg.org, Our District, Job Opportunities.</p> <p>AA/EEO</p>
