<p>Student Psychological Counselor (HEA) - 400373 POSITION DETAILS Kingsborough Community College's Access-Ability Services (AAS) seeks a full-time Student Psychological Counselor specializing in support for neurodivergent students, including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and related neurodevelopmental conditions. The counselor will provide a range of services to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with ADA and Section 504, and promoting academic and personal success. This position reports to the Director of Access-Ability and Student Wellness Services or his/her designee. Responsibilities include: Accommodations, Academic, and Personal Support • Provide intakes, assessments, and short-term, solution-focused counseling for students with disabilities. • Provide academic, career, and transition counseling for students with disabilities. • Monitor student academic and personal progress and intervene when appropriate. • Assess student needs; Plan and deliver individual and group services accordingly. • Determine and coordinate appropriate academic accommodations for students with disabilities. • Perform crisis prevention and intervention and refer to appropriate campus resources (i.e., Student Wellness Services) for emergency situations. Outreach, Consultation, and Referrals • Provide consultation services to instructional and administrative staff regarding students with psychological and academic difficulties. • Appropriately advise and consult with faculty and staff on ADA and 504 compliance. • Plan, develop, coordinate, participate, and present orientation, faculty/staff development, skills and outreach initiatives and workshops including preparation of material, flyers and handouts. • Facilitate appropriate referrals to community providers for longer term care needs. • Follow up and maintain collaborative connections with students' faculty, families, and treatment providers. • Plan and conduct campus-wide disability and mental health awareness activities. Administrative Duties • Maintain accurate records, documentation and data in client data management system (Accommodate). • Keep detailed records and collect reliable data on services provided in accordance with department and grant specifications; Prepare reports as requested. • Participate in strategic planning and assessment of services for the program. • Proctor examinations for students requesting testing accommodations. Other Duties • Participate in Professional Development and Leadership retreats. • Serve on campus advisory boards and committees as requested. • Occasional evening and weekend assignments. • Other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs is preferred or a Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling is required. A New York State License as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling) is also required. Experience: Five+ years of related experience in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling. To meet the supervised experience requirement as a licensed Mental Health Counselor, you must have completed at least 3,000 clock hours providing Mental Health Counseling. The supervised experience must be obtained after completion of the master's degree program required for licensure. CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Provides student counseling services as a member of a team. - Provides psychological counseling to individuals and groups of students - Performs crisis intervention for emergency situations - Performs intake and assessment for personal counseling services - Consults with instructional and administrative staff regarding student mental health issues; may prepare and present outreach initiatives and workshops - Participates in recommending improvements that will impact the counseling center's effectiveness - Performs related duties as assigned.
