<p>DESCRIPTION</p> <p>This command level position is responsible for the efficient and orderly operation of the assigned team, section, or essential function within Murfreesboro Emergency Communications.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to communicate with others in spoken and written English to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the business. </li><li>Coordinates near term daily operations for the delivery of emergency communication operations in accordance with city policies, professional standards, federal, state, and local laws, and regulations. </li><li>Supervises work performance and reviews activity of subordinates on an assigned team, section, or essential function. Approves leave requests, coordinate staffing levels, conducts evaluations, initiates employee recognition, and provides support for subordinates in difficult or uncommon situations. </li><li>Directs, coordinates, and reviews assigned activities or essential functions; assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; meets with team members to identify and resolve problems. </li><li>Initiates or investigates disciplinary actions on subordinates and reports findings as needed. </li><li>Composes routine and specialized reports, forms, and business letters, with proper format; maintains records; speaks compound sentences using normal grammar and word form. </li><li>Effectively communicates developments/updates in operations, policies, and procedures to subordinates. </li><li>Reads and understands procedural instructions, manuals, and charts to solve practical problems. </li><li>Coordinates Reverse 9-1-1 and Public Alerts and Warnings. </li><li>Performs CAD and other data entry administration. </li><li>Develops new standard operating procedures. </li><li>Coordinates center accreditation processes. </li><li>Coordinates assigned program duties and interdepartmental coordination. </li><li>Coordinates the 9-1-1 Public Education Program and Emergency Communications partnership programs. </li><li>Assist with capturing best practices. Develops and revises operational improvement initiatives and work methods to achieve and sustain quality improvement objectives. </li><li>Tracks center performance trends in accordance with established procedures, city policies, Rutherford County Emergency Communication District (RCECD) standards, federal, state, and local laws and regulations. </li><li>Develops, coordinates, and revises quality assurance initiatives and work methods to achieve and sustain quality improvement objectives. </li><li>Coordinates multiple emergency communications training programs: Initial and progressive training programs, continuation training program, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) training program, and other professional development training programs. </li><li>Develops and revises training improvement initiatives and work methods to achieve and sustain quality improvement objectives. </li><li>Develops courses, creates lesson plans, instructs training courses, maintains training files, and reviews all electronic training documentation. </li><li>Serves as an emergency communications representative to an outside agency for the purpose of emergency communications coordination. </li><li>Must have the ability to work different assigned shifts and different days off in order to supervise work performance and review activities of subordinates. Shifts and days off are subject to change based on staffing needs. </li><li>Possess the temperament and good judgment to effectively and diplomatically deal with all members of the public, including those who are irate and unreasonable. </li><li>Performs other work as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Performs work that involves walking or standing most of the time. </li><li>Involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, and use of computers or work aids within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy. </li></ul> <p>TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>Must have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in public safety emergency communications with Murfreesboro Emergency Communications or another 911 Emergency Communications Center/Agency. </li><li>Must not be a probationary employee. </li><li>Must have a minimum of two (2) years in a 911 Emergency Communications Center supervisory capacity. </li><li>Must have a minimum of two (2) years in a 911 Emergency Communications Center trainer or quality assurance evaluator capacity. </li><li>Preferred graduate of the APCO International's Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL) program. </li><li>Preferred to have been employed in public safety emergency communications within the last year. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must submit to and pass an audiogram upon offer of employment. </li><li>Must pass a physical examination by a licensed physician selected by the City of Murfreesboro upon offer of employment. </li><li>Must possess eyesight adequate to accurately read TDD and various computer printouts. </li><li>Ability to work different assigned shifts and different days off. </li><li>Shifts and days off are subject to change based on staffing needs, must be available to work rotating and odd work schedules. </li><li>Must have fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. </li><li>Must meet all qualifications established by Tennessee State Law, T.C.A. Section 7-86-201 to T.C.A Section 7-86- 205, and as same may be amended. </li></ul> <p>Special Certifications and Licenses:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess Communications Training Officer certification. </li><li>Must have Communications Center Supervisor certification. </li><li>Preferred N.C.I.C. (National Crime Information Center) or T.I.E.S.
