<p>Kforce's notable innovative client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their San Jose, CA team.</p> <p>Summary: As a Mechanical Estimator you will be playing a critical role in company projects at all our client's facilities, across the US and globally. You will understand cost drivers at the fundamental level while facilitating value engineering efforts cross functionally, enabling our client to rapidly scale their manufacturing facilities at Ludacris speed.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Understand, develop, compile and present high-level cost estimates for multiple projects at this company </li><li>Develop detailed cost estimates as designs develop, communicating with various stakeholders on cost drivers and value engineering opportunities across all trades </li><li>Use efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate risks and communicate opportunities </li><li>Employ a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the program goals </li><li>Create what-if scenario estimates for program strategy and decision making </li><li>Develop long-term strategy on estimation methodology, tool and systems for CAPEX projects </li><li>Estimate cost impact related to changes in design and construction strategy during project execution that vary from the Baseline; Work closely with the project team to forecast project costs in a timely manner </li><li>Show initiative in the development of estimating standards, procedures, systems as well as input to future benchmarking and estimating tools* 5+ years of estimation experience required (All trades preferred) </li><li>Experience in estimation with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical and life safety systems </li><li>Experience in value engineering and cost modeling with fast turnaround results </li></ul> <p>Mechanical Estimating Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Conceptual & detailed estimates </li><li>Reading drawings, creating take-offs </li><li>Not reliant on pre-calculated packages from engineers </li></ul> <p>Industry Project Types:</p> <ul> <li>Manufacturing plants, data centers, R&D facilities </li><li>Commercial or industrial scale </li><li>Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Ability to fill in gaps without handholding </li><li>Software Skills: Excel, Teams, Bluebeam, Revit (for take-offs/navigation) </li><li>Culture: Fast-paced, startup mentality; Go getter, hustler- - takes ownership, chases answers, proactive </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication presentation skills are a must </li><li>Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines, aggressive goals and demanding work environment </li><li>Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and willingness to continuously learn </li><li>Capacity to work long hours on demanding projects in high stress environments </li><li>Knowledge of how things are built at the fundamental level, experience with construction management preferred </li></ul>
