May serve as an assistant accompanist or musician for departmental rehearsals, performances, guest instructors and choreographers.  </li><li>Provides professional expertise on the maintenance and acquisition of instruments. Stores all instruments used in various classes as needed.  </li><li>Performs other job related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Candidates must audition for the position and demonstrate the ability to provide musical accompaniment that supports and enhances the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class content. </p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelors degree in music or related major. Training in improvisation and/or composition. Ongoing Bachelors students also considered.Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience accompanying for Ballet, Modern, or World Dance classes.  </li><li>Knowledge of classical repertory.  </li><li>Knowledge of terminology used in technique classes.  </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Skills in musical styles and instruments that support the specific dance class.  </li></ul> <p>Abilities </p> <ul> <li>Ability to provide musical accompaniment that supports and enhances the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class content.  </li><li>Ability to play a wide range of styles with an ability to improvise and provide musical accompaniment that supports and enhances the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class movement content. </li></ul>
