Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations including women, racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Definition</p> <p>Under general supervision, to lead personnel and manage the operation of a large, metered parking ramp, and to do related work as required.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Perform maintenance and operation of a large, metered parking ramp, perform lead work over regular and temporary employees including assigning and monitoring work. Train new hires. Assist with annual budget preparation and administer budget. Issue and process County employee parking permits, monitor RideShare/Alternative Transportation Options. Issue and process lessee permit parking, reconcile permit fee collections with County controller personnel. Monitor structural conditions of the parking ramp and recommend ramp repairs when necessary. Enforce non-moving violations (parking regulations), process parking citations, related mailings and settle contested parking tickets. Perform and direct parking meter repair. Perform and direct snow and ice clearing and removal using skid steer and dump truck with plow and apply anti-ice materials. Direct maintenance and servicing of miscellaneous equipment. Communicate with public concerning complaints, violations, locating misplaced autos and general operations, procedures and policies of the facility. Perform various office/computer tasks required to accomplish the above responsibilities. </p> <p> </p> <p>Education, Training and Experience: </p> <p>Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of work experience in varied mechanical repairs, administrative/clerical tasks or parking facility operations including experience in a lead worker capacity. </p> <p>Certifications/Licenses:</p> <p>Required possession of a valid Wisconsin Class "B" commercial driver's license with airbrake endorsement at time of application. Everyone who has a commercial driver's license ("CDL") must be registered in the US Department of Transportation's Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. Registration is available at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/register.Applicants must pass drug/alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment has been made.</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>Must be available nights, holidays and weekends during snow emergencies and special events. Safety shoes required. Plus requires eye, ear and glove protection when the job dictates it. </p> <p>Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 - 111.395, Wis. Stats., prohibits discrimination because of an arrest or conviction record. However, Dane County may disqualify an applicant if the position's responsibilities are substantially related to the applicant's criminal history (e.g., the nature of the crime and its relationship to the position, whether hiring, transferring or promoting an applicant would pose an unreasonable risk to the business, its employees, customers and vendors, etc.) Management reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check.</p> <p>For Bilingual Positions:</p> <ul> <li>Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.). </li><li>Applicants being considered for bilingual positions will be tested during the recruitment process prior to employment. This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job. </li><li>If applicable, individuals may confirm with the Employee Relations Division whether results of bilingual language certifications/ examinations they currently hold qualify them for the position's bilingual designation. </li></ul> <p>Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:</p> <p>This position is active for the entire shift (standing, walking, stooping, twisting, lifting, bending, pushing, reaching, climbing, crouching and crawling). Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. May be required to operate heavy equipment, move furniture and work from safety ladders. Ability to use hands/feet for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling and operating controls and equipment. Incumbent will work in an outdoor covered parking ramp and is therefore subject to a wide variety of conditions that will change daily. On a daily basis exposure to temperature variations or extremes, chemicals, odors, toxic agents, noise, vibrations, wetness, machinery and/or dust may cause discomfort but poses little risk of injury. On an infrequent basis, exposure to blood and/or body fluids.</p> <p>Knowledge of the policies, practices and regulations involved in the operation of a large, multiuse public parking facility. Knowledge of rules of the road, specifically regarding parking all types of motorized vehicles. Basic knowledge of motorized vehicles and electronic parking meters and other "pay-when-you-park" payment equipment. Knowledge of and ability to utilize personal computer applications involving word processing, familiarity with spreadsheet software. Knowledge of principles and practices relating to personnel administration, budgeting, purchasing and electronic data processing applications. Ability to enforce regulations. Ability to plan, schedule and supervise the overall maintenance of a large, urban multi-use facility parking, i.e. parking meter repair, snow removal, painting, cleaning, posting of common road signs. Ability to account for revenue. Ability to maintain an effective relationship with supervisors, employees, co-workers and the public. Ability to operate motorized equipment, including snow removal equipment.</p> <p> </p>
