Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES:</p> <p>60% - Essential - Area management and development: Works with Executive Director and Assistant Director to plan and maintain engaging garden spaces. Maintains trails, infrastructure and garden areas consistently to provide a safe and engaging visitor experience. Performs general horticultural practices including planting, fertilizing, irrigating, weeding and controlling pests. Performs aesthetic maintenance such as mowing, leaf removal and mulching. Collaborates with nursery manager to source and propagate plants for assigned areas.</p> <p>25% - Essential - Personnel and volunteer leadership: Effectively manages and provides continuing education and mentoring for student and volunteer workers assigned to area(s) to provide necessary care of the plant collections, irrigation, equipment and pathways and trails using both horticultural and sustainable best practices.</p> <p>15% - Essential - Special projects and event preparation: Plans and participates in on- and off-campus project, outreach and event activities related to SCBG mission.
