<p>Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a talented Systems Engineer to join the Developer Tools team. DevTools builds and maintains server and software build infrastructure, as well as tooling for the same, that is used by all teams across the firm. This includes designing, building, scaling, and supporting HRT's code collaboration and review platforms, and scaling and writing tooling to make it easier to build and test software. Additionally, our systems are used to run periodic batch jobs integral to automated processes across the company. We collaborate closely with other software development teams to think and design strategically in an effort to better support the company's development needs into the future. We also work with our colleagues in systems engineering to ensure systems are designed and supported with an eye toward maintaining a high bar for developer experience in a high velocity environment.</p> <p>This role offers a unique opportunity to interface with and have an impact on development processes across the firm, not limited to specific subgroups.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Build and maintain tools and software to automate, monitor, and improve build, test, and development workflows </li><li>Analyse build patterns and troubleshoot systemic resource usage to reason about, design, and advocate more efficient processes, working with clients of our build infrastructure to identify and implement specific improvements </li><li>Consult with developers to help software engineers understand how to solve problems and interface with linux systems effectively and with an understanding toward sound systems engineering principles </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Required </li><li>Python programming </li><li>Ability to debug and analyse problems quickly </li><li>Ability to learn at a fast pace and apply knowledge effectively </li><li>Solid understanding of Linux/UNIX operating systems </li><li>2+ years of relevant experience </li><li>Able to work effectively as a team player, but can also work independently </li><li>Skilled at juggling multiple tasks while maintaining a high attention to detail </li><li>Comfortable using, supporting, debugging, and where necessary patching open source software across a variety of languages </li><li>Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or a related field </li><li>Preferred </li><li>Java and/or Groovy programming </li><li>Familiarity with systems configuration management and monitoring technologies </li><li>Familiarity with the Debian operating system </li><li>Familiarity with Jenkins and/or Gerrit Code Review and/or Phabricator </li></ul> <p>This job is accepting ongoing applications and there is no application deadline.</p> <p>Annual base salary range of $150,000 to $250,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package.
