<p>The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Division Chief - Support Services in the Fire Department.</p> <p>Responsibilities: Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Directs the activities of the division, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards. Assists in directing and managing the development and implementation of division goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned service and/or operational area; and oversees the development and implementation of policies and plans related to departmental services and operations. Responds to citizen complaints and follows up on issues to ensure responses are communicated and action is taken. Receives, reviews, prepares, and/or submits a variety of reports and documents including monthly statistical reports, memorandums, evaluation forms, incident reports, timesheets, training reports, vehicle maintenance reports, hydrant information, and general office correspondence. Provides detailed report monthly of turnout, and response times. Evaluating 90th percentile response. Provides monthly report of construction inspections, routine inspections, CO inspections and time spent on inspections each type of inspection each month. Provides a report for Community Risk Reduction (CRR) to include Pub ed events, smoke alarm installs, pre-fire plans, car seat installs, and CPR classes. Provides monthly fire investigation report, breaking down cause and origin, number of fires investigated, and hours spent on investigations. Produces the department monthly report to council. Processes division invoices and purchasing card receipts. Ensures monthly occupancy weekend capacity checks are completed. Oversees the Fire Marshal, Community Risk Reduction Coordinator, Accreditation Manager, and Logistics Coordinator. Reviews and handles FOIA requests when assigned. Oversees 1% retirement committee and submits annual information to SC State Firefighters' Association. Manages Washington National supplemental insurance account. Assists in coordinating department activities with other City departments and other local, state, and federal organizations as necessary or appropriate. Reviews all NERIS fire reports to ensure they are completed and accurate. Submits all records to state and federal records management systems. Performs related work as required.</p> <p>Job requirements: Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Business, Management, Public Administration, or related field, or Eight (8) years of experience in fire suppression, fire prevention, and education, including five (5) years of fire service supervisory experience, or 15 years of fire service experience with at least 7 years of supervisory experience, or any combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving</p> <p>Requires the following certifications:</p> <p>o NREMT EMT</p> <p>o NFPA/IFSAC Firefighter II</p> <p>o NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700</p> <p>o Fire Officer III;</p> <p>o Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I</p> <p>o Car Safety Seat Technician.</p> <p>Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with additional hours as needed</p> <p>Salary: Minimum salary $78,693; dependent on experience</p> <p>In addition to a competitive base pay, we currently offer comprehensive benefits package that includes health, prescription, vision, dental insurance (at no cost for employee coverage based on full participation in Wellness Program), life insurance, long-term disability, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, FSA, EAP, Education Incentive Pay, and a defined benefit retirement plan (South Carolina Police Retirement System).</p> <p>The City of Greer is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
