<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Medicine Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management for a population of patients.</p> <p>Major duties and responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Independently manages patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on advanced care in the specific specialty using evidence-based practice. Consultation and ongoing management can occur in an outpatient, inpatient, virtual, or electronic consult setting. </li><li>Works with other providers in their specialty to co-manage patients. </li><li>Completes or assists with appropriate medical procedures based on granted privileges and duties as determined by leadership of the Medicine Section. </li><li>Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. </li><li>Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies. </li><li>Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. </li><li>Initiates referrals and consults to other specialty services, as appropriate. </li><li>Provides education to patients and their families. </li><li>Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. </li><li>Supports all aspects of consult management. </li><li>Supports decisions, evaluation of referral, and integrates community care. </li><li>Uses tele-care modalities including voice, video, electronic consults, and others to provide care, when appropriate. </li><li>Completes appropriate documentation of care in a timely fashion meeting facility requirements. </li><li>Completes or assists with projects to improve Veteran care based on the needs of the facility. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday - Friday hours to be determined by service needs</p> <p>Telework: Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized</p> <p>EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
