<p>NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK</p> <p>Minuteman High School is looking to hire a Licensed Biology Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. Minuteman teachers are responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction designed to foster the success of their students. Minuteman's curriculum is deeply integrated among its career majors and academic disciplines. Individuals applying for this position will commit to working collaboratively with instructors within and across all disciplines. Minuteman is committed to practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates will participate in Professional Learning Communities on school-wide goals and academic-vocational integration activities. Candidates will ensure personal and professional growth on a yearly basis with a focus on continuous improvement in student learning.</p> <p>Major Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design well-structured units and engaging lessons guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards. </li><li>Foster a growth mindset in all students based on a firm understanding of adolescent development. </li><li>Use a variety of timely assessments to measure and report student progress. </li><li>Be passionate and optimistic about their students, their content, and the teaching profession.? </li><li>Differentiate and scaffold instruction while providing clear and high expectations. </li><li>Relate subject matter to real-world settings and other content areas. </li><li>Create a trauma-informed class climate that promotes inclusion, embraces diversity and maintains equity. </li><li>Build a culturally responsive learning environment where every student participates and is valued as part of the class community </li><li>Build relationships of regard and respect with students, parents, and colleagues. </li><li>Engage families with effective two-way communication to support student achievement. </li><li>Contribute to a collaborative adult learning community in service of student needs. </li><li>Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for re-certification.? </li><li>Regularly reflect on practice, seek and respond to feedback, and demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development. </li><li>Contribute to a collaborative adult learning community in service of student needs. </li><li>Maintain current curriculum maps. </li><li>Promote a professional culture characterized by competence, caring, and collaboration. </li><li>Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building principal. </li></ul> <p>Position Type:Full-time Positions Available:1 Job Categories:Classroom Teacher >Science: Biology</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Minuteman High School is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws. Additionally, we prohibit retaliation against individuals who oppose such discrimination and harassment or who participate in an equal opportunity investigation.</p> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION</p> <ul> <li>Certified or certifiable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Biology required </li><li>Knowledge of Biology standards </li><li>Previous experience with Aspen is preferred but not required </li><li>Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States required </li><li>Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff </li></ul> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Equipment Used: Copier, fax machine, smart board, phone, computer.</p> <p>Physical Demands (if applicable): Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is a frequent opportunity to move about.
