If you want to use your skills to build a healthier, more resilient community, we encourage you to apply.</p> <p>This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Inpatient Services, 7901 Farrow Road, Columbia, SC 29203.</p> <p>As the Registered Dietitian, working under limited supervision, you will plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition services for a designated area. You will assess the nutritional status of individuals of the designated population. You will serve as a liaison for Food and Nutrition Services and serve as a member of the health care team.</p> <p>Responsibilities for the Registered Dietitian:</p> <ul> <li>Assess nutritional status of individuals by obtaining and/or evaluating anthropometric measurements, biochemical tests, clinical, dietary, economic and social data. </li><li>Provide all appropriate related documentation. </li><li>Participate in the development, implementation and interpretation of nutrition policies, procedures and standards of care within areas of responsibility. Serve as contact person for specialized nutrition services within a designated area. </li><li>Conduct quality assurance reviews, evaluate outcomes and recommend or implement cooperative action when necessary. </li><li>Provide consultation and assistance to medical and other professional personnel on the diagnosis and treatment of nutrition disorders. Provide in-service training for staff within a specialized program or units of state agencies. </li><li>Maintain appropriate credentials for practices; includes developing and maintaining age-specific competencies. </li><li>Participate in the orientation and professional development of nutrition staff. </li><li>Perform related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department </li><li>Provide services in a pleasant, helpful, and positive manner to demonstrate positive customer service. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian or registration eligible. Or a bachelor's degree with professional clinical or public health experience and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Commission on Dietetic Registration RD credential and South Carolina Dietitian license. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree in public health nutrition, community nutrition, dietetics or nutrition with 3 years' of experience in a related field or a bachelor's degree in nutrition dietetics or community nutrition and experience in a clinical public health or institutional setting or 4 years' experience in a related field. </li><li>Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>This position is considered an essential position in case of an emergency.</p> <p>Post hire, employee must:</p> <ul> <li>Must have thorough knowledge of the principles of health practices and administration; and of education principles and methods as applied to health nutrition. </li><li>Ability to plan, implement, supervise and evaluate nutrition programs. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively. </li><li>Be able to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with healthcare providers, patients and families. </li></ul> <p>The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions including, but not limited, to lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.</p> <p>Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
