<ul> <li> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for cleaning, sterilizing and assembling equipment, supplies and instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> </li><li> <p>Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:</p> </li><li> <p>Cleans, sterilizes and assembles equipment, supplies and instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>Decontaminates surgical instruments, container syringes, surgical linen and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares packs of supplies and instruments.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares control system for supplies processed.</p> </li><li> <p>Places sterilized items in proper storage area after processing.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other assigned duties as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Good mechanical aptitude, with ability to troubleshoot and work independently.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have the ability to identify all surgical instruments immediately to respond to emergency situations which may develop in the Operating Room.</p> </li><li> <p>Must demonstrate competence in the assembly and preparation of complex instrument trays for a variety of surgical cases and do so in a minimal amount of time during urgent or emergency procedures. (10-20 min. maximum).</p> </li><li> <p>EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum requirement:</p> </li><li> <p>High school graduate or GED equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Operating Room Technician Program Completion, Sterile Processing Program Completion, or one year post operating room/central service experience</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) and/or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), (CRCST) within one year of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred qualifications:</p> </li><li> <p>HSPA Certification of Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) within one year of hire</p> </li><li> <p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly works near moving mechanical parts</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation</p> </li><li> <p>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</p> </li><li> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to stand; walk; sit</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly use hands to finger, handle, or feel</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly reach with hands and arms: climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception</p> </li></ul>
