<p>Description of Service Opportunity:</p> <p>The CPS Summer Scholars program is a four week summer learning experience for current grade 5-7 students with demonstrated academic need.</p> <p>The program will operate from 8:30-12:00 at The Putnam Avenue School from July 7 to August 1. The day is organized into a block schedule and studies will have Math, ELA and enrichment periods each day. The student teacher ratio will be 1:12.</p> <p>The CPS Summer Scholars teacher, under the direction of the CPS Summer Scholars Principal, Director of MTSS, and Program Manager, will be responsible for:</p> <p>Providing a fun, safe, theme-based summer learning experience that promotes high expectations for all students;</p> <p>Facilitating literacy or math instruction, according to their assigned content area, using district provided curriculum (Fishtank, Math Camp) and intervention materials;</p> <p>Monitoring student progress toward academic goals; and</p> <p>Supporting students during local field trips and special events.</p> <p>Program logistics</p> <p>Dates:</p> <p>May 1-June 30, 2025</p> <p>15 hours of orientation, program planning, and curriculum training</p> <p>Specific dates communicated with job offer</p> <p>July 1-3, 2025 (summer set up and professional learning days)</p> <p>July 7-August 1, 2024 (CPS Summer Scholars program)</p> <p>Time:</p> <p>8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (teacher work day, July-August)</p> <p>8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (student day, July-August)</p> <p>Location(s): Putnam Avenue Upper School</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>CPS Summer Scholars teachers must have the ability to teach students with a range of learning needs in multi-age classrooms. MA DESE licensure in English 5-8 , Mathematics 5-8, and/or Moderate Disabilities preK-8 preferred. Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.</p> <p>Length of Contract: May 1-August 1, 2025</p> <p>Contract Amount:</p> <p>May-June, 2025: $50 per hour ($750, not to exceed 15 hours)</p> <p>July-August, 2025: $50 per hour ($5,000, not to exceed 100 hours)</p> <p>Length of Contract:</p> <p>July 1, 2025 through August 1, 2025</p> <p>Contract Amount</p> <p>Not to exceed $5000.00</p> <p>Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.</p>
