<p>Annual Salary:</p> <p>$37,440.00 - $39,312.00</p> <p>Hourly:</p> <p>$19.20 - $20.16</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>Environmental Services, Public Service</p> <p>Division:</p> <p>Municipal Solid Waste</p> <p>FLSA:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>$500 BONUS</p> <p>$250 ON FIRST CHECK AND $250 AFTER 120-DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>In this role, you will be responsible for collecting refuse and placing it in collection trucks.</p> <p>Examples of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Places refuse in the collection vehicle by picking up the container manually or using a semi-automatic container lifting system. </li><li>Uses a broom or shovel or other means to safely pick up loose or spilled garbage. </li><li>Places empty cans off street, away from mailboxes after emptying in a neat and tidy manner. </li><li>Spots for driver when the collection vehicle is reversing. </li><li>Assists the driver with other routine vehicle checks and maintenance/ </li><li>Responsible for maintaining their assigned safety equipment and using it properly at all times. </li><li>Fills out appropriate paperwork. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months of similar experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li></ul> <p>Other Necessary Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. </li><li>In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs. </li></ul> <p>The City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity ( EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation.
