This role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, fostering social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, and building strong partnerships with families to support each child's development.</p> <p>General Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Duties in relationship to individual children and in groups</p> <ul> <li>plan short and long-term goals and objectives in all developmental areas </li><li>plan and implement educational program that focuses on the developmental needs of the children </li><li>keep attendance and daily records, plan appropriate snacks and write </li><li>annual (nursery school) or bi-annual (special ed) reports </li><li>evaluate children using observational and standardized means as appropriate </li><li>participate in planning for future placement of children with team </li><li>maintain safe and organized physical environment for children </li><li>collect appropriate data for research projects as required </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Duties in relationship to other staff </li></ol> <ul> <li>supervise and evaluate aides </li><li>co-ordinate appropriate case management with other professional team members </li><li>communicate effectively with team members </li><li>maintain regular communication with Program Director, Laboratory Coordinator and teachers </li><li>attend all staff meetings </li><li>maintain positive professional work environment </li><li>attend in-service meetings as appropriate </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Duties in relationship to parent </li></ol> <ul> <li>maintain regular contact with parents </li><li>work to enhance parental skills and understanding of their child's development </li><li>conduct home visits as appropriate </li><li>participate in parent social and educational functions </li><li>conduct bi-annual formal parent conferences (December and May - special ed; </li><li>November and May - nursery school) </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Duties in relationship to school systems and support agencies </li></ol> <ul> <li>attend Planning and Placement Team meetings as appropriate and case management meetings </li><li>make recommendations for future placements when appropriate </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Duties in relationship to college students </li></ol> <ul> <li>supervise and evaluate practicum participants </li><li>provide feedback to administration and students concerning practicum and written assignments </li></ul> <p>Education and Skills</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field and Connecticut State Teacher Education Certification required; Master's Degree preferred. Within four months of hire, the selected candidate must be designated as eligible to have unsupervised access to children in a child care center by the CT Commissioner of Early Childhood. Min. of one year working with young children required.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Driving Required No Salary Range $46,200 Note</p> <p>Connecticut College is committed to fair and competitive compensation.
