<p>Work hours are from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM. Plan, implement, and assess library curriculum for students in Preschool through Third Grade, including literacy promotion and research skills development. Provide regular library instruction classes to students, teaching age-appropriate library, research, and digital literacy skills. Manage and maintain the school library collection, including cataloging, shelving, and circulation of materials. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum connections and literacy initiatives across grade levels. Assist students in selecting appropriate reading materials based on interests and reading levels. Organize and implement reading incentive programs and literacy events to foster a love of reading. Create an engaging and welcoming library environment that encourages student exploration and learning. Introduce and reinforce digital citizenship concepts appropriate for early elementary students. Support teachers in integrating library and information literacy skills into classroom instruction. Maintain accurate records of library usage, circulation, and inventory. Promote diverse and inclusive literature that reflects the school community. Assess student progress in library and information literacy skills development. Supervise and direct library volunteers and assistants as needed. Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities. Communicate regularly with school administration regarding library needs and initiatives. Additional Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, or related field preferred. Experience managing a children's library is preferred. Massachusetts DESE Licensure as School Library Teacher/Library Media Specialist preferred. Experience working with early elementary students (PreK-3) in library or educational settings. Strong knowledge of children's literature and early literacy development. Excellent classroom management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to engage young learners in age-appropriate library activities. Proficiency with library management systems and educational technology. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families. Ability to create and maintain an organized, accessible library environment. Knowledge of information literacy standards and curriculum integration. Commitment to promoting diverse and inclusive literature. Flexibility to adapt to the varied needs of an early learning environment. Enthusiasm for fostering a love of reading and learning in young students. Use technology tools required for instruction. Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities. Valid driver's license. Physical Requirements (Must be able to): Stand/walk for extended periods. Reach shelving of various heights. Lift and move library materials and equipment (up to 25 pounds). Bend, twist, reach, and occasionally sit on the floor..
