<p>This position is located in the Grounds & Landscaping Maintenance division of Parks and Recreation and performs a variety of duties in grounds maintenance and/or landscaping. This position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequently climbing tall ladders, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, and working outside in all weather conditions.</p> <p> </p> <p>This position may be required to work weekends and/or overtime.</p> <p>Metro's Parks and Recreation Department has something for everyone through its variety of strategically placed facilities and programs. An active and fun place where there is always something going on, Parks might be just the place for you.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Works alone or as a member of a grounds maintenance/landscaping crew in manual labor duties and operating light to medium equipment. </li><li>Performs un-skilled and semi-skilled duties necessary to assist with the construction and maintenance of all parks and public grounds. </li><li>Mows, trims grass, hedges, trees, and shrubs </li><li>Assists in grading and preparing all types of athletic fields &courts. </li><li>Clears debris and trash from grounds and buildings as needed.  </li><li>Performs minor equipment and building repairs as needed. </li><li>Follows and executes direction given by supervisor/leadman. </li><li>Meeting specified deadlines and completing all the assigned work given by the supervisor/leadman. </li><li>Following all safety and precautionary measures while operating power tools and other equipment </li></ul> <p>Eighth Grade Education and (1) year of experience in construction, laboring, maintenance or a related field.</p> <p> </p> <p>LICENSE REQUIRED:</p> <p>Valid Driver License</p> <p>Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.</p> <p> </p> <p>Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078.
