<p>Compensation Type: Hourly</p> <p>Compensation: $35.00</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The English As A Second Language (ESL) Educators provide quality instruction and maintain a supportive learning environment in virtual and in-person classes. This position teaches Basic English as a Second Language topics including, but not limited to, grammar, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary, and technology, as directed by the Language Institute (LI) Supervisor according to assigned schedule.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <p>Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Plans and implements learning activities that support course objectives and are appropriate to student needs. </li><li>Provides engaging, ongoing opportunities for students to experience success through academic activities. </li><li>Develops and maintains a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. </li><li>Answers questions and provides assistance to students regarding assignments and classroom activities. </li><li>Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course objectives. </li><li>Communicates progress in the course to students in a timely manner. Communicates and collaborates with other ESL Educators and leadership to ensure consistency and quality of education. </li><li>Assists in the maintenance of course materials and facilities, as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Classroom & Student Support</p> <ul> <li>Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of attendance and scores in accordance with established College and departmental policies and procedures. </li><li>Handles student concerns with respect, follows guidelines, processes, and procedures, and escalates any issues to the LI Supervisor or Director. </li><li>Assists in the identification of students with academic or other needs and responds by utilizing appropriate resources. </li></ul> <p>Culture of Respect</p> <ul> <li>Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in English, a world language, Communication, or other related field </li><li>One (1) year of Adult ESL Experience or a TESOL certificate. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <ul> <li>State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s). </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Typical office environment.
