Learn more about us at worcester.edu/about .</p> <p>Job Description: Title: Health Ambassador RC4 Department: Latino Education Institute Supervisor: Carla Orellana</p> <p>SSTA Approver: Carla Orellana</p> <p>General Statement of Duties:</p> <p>Under the leadership of the Gambling Prevention Program Manager, the Health Ambassador/Promoter will be trained to empower their peers through education and connections to health and fitness and resources in English and Spanish. Ambassador will use their insights and knowledge of cultural norms to provide relevant health information and education to help youth work through the barriers they face when addressing complex health issues such as obesity, diabetes, high risk behaviors, navigating the health care system, and gaining access to affordable fresh and nutritious foods.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Gather information and provide education in the community, as outlined in the scope and contract.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the alignment of the work with what exists in the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide the community with education on existing services.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote wellness programs for Latino and other marginalized families by participating in communication plans as outlined in the scope of service and contract.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet weekly with the Administrators and program team to coordinate staffing, participant needs and logistics. Participate in biweekly staff meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in required trainings, workshops, conferences or other aspects of professional development including funder sponsored events.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned, including supporting other staff and representing the organization upon assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>In person position with field activities.</p> </li></ol> <p>Requirements: Required Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, both in writing and verbally.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong work ethic and commitment to positive youth development.</p> </li><li> <p>Success in prioritizing and meeting multiple demands and deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, manage own work and time, and be accountable for performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Alignment and agreement with the vision, mission, and values of the Latino Education Institute.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work some evenings and weekends.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>High School Diploma and at least 2 years of experience working on social and/or health-related issues with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.</p> </li><li> <p>A bachelor's degree in a health-related career would be a plus, especially for growth opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Reliable access to transportation.</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual (Spanish and English).</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional Information: Worcester State University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer which seeks to reflect the diversity of its community.</p> <p>This is a part-time, non-benefited, hourly position.</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $20 per hour</p> <p>Application Instructions: Applicants must apply online at worcester.interviewexchange.com.
