<p>We are looking for a highly skilled Visual Storyteller & Video Editor to bring engaging, kid-centered visual content to life as part of the Mystery Writing team. This role will help develop a new K-5 writing product designed to transform how students and teachers experience writing in the classroom, making it as joyful and captivating as our flagship science lessons. Working closely with a Scriptwriter/Activity Developer, you'll curate impactful visuals, edit video content, and collaboratively build lessons that make complex writing concepts simple, relatable, and fun. You'll be part of an iterative, creative team passionate about helping kids fall in love with learning through storytelling and hands-on exploration.</p> <p>In This Role You Will:</p> <p>Lesson Development & Visual Research</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with a Scriptwriter/Activity Developer and internal teams to bring writing lessons to life through compelling images, videos, and animations that are uniquely engaging for elementary-aged students </li><li>Source "wow" visuals from a variety of sources that clarify abstract concepts and inspire laughter, curiosity, creativity, and engagement </li><li>Ideate on concepts that illustrate the learning goals in partnership with a Scriptwriter/Activity Developer, and rapid iteration throughout the lesson development process, ensuring proper incorporation of feedback </li></ul> <p>Video Editing & Production</p> <ul> <li>Use Adobe Suite(Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects)to edit step-by-step video lessons, motion graphics, and simple animations </li><li>Design student worksheets to optimize clarity and learning objectives </li><li>Film hands-on activities such as worksheet demos or booklet assembly as needed </li><li>Experiment with new approaches to building engaging lessons and driving continuous improvement for existing formats and workflows </li></ul> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Brainstorm and collaborate with instructional designers, editors, and developers </li><li>Give and receive feedback constructively on lessons as part of an iterative, fast-moving creative team </li><li>Help refine and scale lesson templates to support product expansion </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies for Success:</p> <ul> <li>Visual storytelling and design for learning </li><li>Curiosity and empathy for elementary-aged learners with prior experience as a classroom teacher, a camp counselor, or other interactive environment </li><li>Situational adaptability with a resilient and growth mindset </li><li>Strong sense of humor and creative playfulness </li><li>Cultural awareness and inclusiveness in content creation </li><li>Visual research and asset sourcing with licensing awareness </li><li>Strong attention to detail and time management skills, with the ability to adjust the level of polish to produce videos efficiently </li><li>Strong desire to work on a collaborative team and partner closely with cross-functional groups </li></ul> <p>Credentials and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of experience in video editing or related creative field </li><li>Demonstrated track record of at least 3 years effectively leveraging advanced communication and time management skills to navigate high-volume, deadline-driven environments-consistently balancing multiple priorities with precision and poise </li><li>Expert knowledge of Adobe Premiere; proficiency in After Effects and Photoshop with stellar video editing and animation skills </li><li>Experience working on educational content or with elementary-aged children preferred </li><li>Experience in constructively collaborating closely with scriptwriters and instructional teams </li><li>Experience doing visual research and pulling from multiple sources. Basic knowledge of rights and clearances, and licensing requirements </li><li>Legal right to work in the United States </li></ul> <p>This hybrid role is designed to be within a reasonable distance of our Charlotte HQs. Candidates must have access to a reliable internet connection and an appropriate home studio or workspace setup for creative content development and virtual collaboration.</p>
