<p>Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Position Title AED/CPR Trainer Classification Title Instructional Support Associate Department Environment, Health and Safety Posting Number P250271 Posting Link https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/60285 Employer State Position Type Professional Appointment Term Term Salary Grade SL2</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Department of Environment, Health and Safety is seeking an AED/CPR Trainer. This position is responsible for delivering American Red Cross-approved training that equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills to recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies and to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This position will also be responsible for assisting the fire extinguisher inspection program, continuous inspection of University facilities, and reporting safety related issues for correction.</p> <p>Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct participants in adult, child, and infant CPR techniques and safe, effective AED application using the American Red Cross curriculum. </li><li>Demonstrate skills clearly and provide guided practice to ensure participant confidence and competence. </li><li>Prepare the training environment, including setup and sanitization of mannequins, AED trainers, and supplies. </li><li>Administer Red Cross written exams and practical skills tests; provide feedback and evaluate participant performance. </li><li>Maintain accurate course records and submit certifications through the Red Cross system. </li><li>Ensure compliance with Red Cross standards for curriculum delivery, safety protocols, and course ratios. </li><li>Uphold a professional, engaging classroom atmosphere that supports learners with varied backgrounds and experience. </li><li>Participate in the fire extinguishers inspection program. </li><li>Participate in evacuation drills and support additional safety programs </li><li>Provide emergency response - must be able to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours. </li><li>Participate as a member of the HazMat Response Team. </li><li>Work with the Office of Equity Diversity and Inclusion to consult/meet specific needs of individuals requiring special accommodations. </li><li>Provide direction to support staff activities. </li></ul> <p>Learn more:</p> <ul> <li>Our benefits, where we prioritize your well-being and success to enhance every aspect of your life. </li><li>Being a part of the University at Buffalo community. </li></ul> <p>University at Buffalo is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and, in keeping with our commitment, welcomes all to apply including veterans and individuals with disabilities.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>An Associate's degree in Fire Science or a closely related science field or an Associate's degree in a different discipline combined with 2 years of experience in a fire protection related field or current work in an EMS-related role. </li></ul> <p>In addition:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent customer service skills and good interpersonal communication skills are required. </li><li>Creative problem-solving skills are desirable. </li><li>The ability to use Microsoft Office tools, word, excel and access programs is highly desirable. </li><li>Current American Red Cross AED/CPR trainer certification (or willingness to complete instructor training within 6 months of hire). Applicant must maintain continuous certification </li><li>Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles. </li><li>Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining accurate records. </li><li>Flexible to work evenings, weekends when needed and travel to training sites. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Certified as a New York Code Enforcement Officer is desirable. </li><li>Experience in an academic, research or government environment is preferred. </li><li>Currently certified in AED/CPR. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>This role requires frequent walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and moving equipment up to 60 pounds. Physical ability to perform and demonstrate CPR and AED use, including compressions on adult/child/infant mannequins.</p> <p>Salary Range $53,000 - $58,000 Additional Salary Information Job Type Full-Time Campus All Campuses Posting Alerts Special Instructions Summary Additional Information Is a background check required for this posting?
