<p>QUALIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li>Properly certified in all areas of assignment </li><li>Demonstrate cooperativeness and willingness to carry-out assigned tasks and </li></ul> <p>Performance responsibilities.</p> <ul> <li>Other qualifications determined necessary by the Board. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal or Designee</p> <p>GENERAL SUPERVISOR: Superintendent</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil an understanding of the relationship of good</p> <p>Body functions and exercise: to motivate each pupil to cultivate</p> <p>Physical fitness, hygienic, health habits, and good social and emotional</p> <p>Adjustment; to discover and develop talents of pupils in physical</p> <p>Achievement; to develop strength, skill, agility, poise and coordination</p> <p>In individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in</p> <p>Accordance with each pupil's ability.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual or team sports, utilizing teaching competencies and other appropriate learning activities. </li><li>Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. </li><li>Work cooperatively with other physical education/health teachers in planning a balanced education program to assure continuity and articulation. </li><li>Analyze, demonstrate and explain basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. </li><li>Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible. </li><li>Teach physical education classes for handicapped pupils, inter-scholastic activities. </li></ul> <p>88</p> <ul> <li>Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils. </li><li>Maintain and control the storage and use of school-owned property. </li><li>On a daily basis, oversee that gym floors are clean and cared for, and make sure that custodians/maintenance personnel keep the gymnasium and/or multi-purpose building clean at all times, to include the shower(s), dressing rooms, storage rooms, lobby, porch, concession areas, weight room, rest rooms and office. </li><li>Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. </li><li>Evaluate each pupil's growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports. </li><li>Maintain professional competencies through in-service education provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities. </li><li>Participate cooperatively with the principal or his/her designee to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. </li><li>Select and requisition uniforms, equipment and instructional aides; and maintain required inventory records. </li><li>Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner as the need arises, to discuss the student's weaknesses, strengths, progress and behavior. </li><li>Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. </li><li>Cooperate with school administration in providing specialty performing groups for specific occasions, board meeting, assemblies and inter-scholastic athletic events. </li><li>Supervise polios in out-of-classroom activities as assigned. </li><li>Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs and implement EPSS. </li><li>Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement. </li><li>Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities to include; in and out of school activities. </li><li>Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program. </li><li>Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish. </li><li>Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee. </li><li>Perform other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s). </li></ul>
