Follow us on LinkedIn.</p> <p>ROLE SUMMARY</p> <p>FLUENT Cannabis seeks a highly qualified Staff Attorney to join our legal team. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Compliance and will be responsible for providing legal advice and support for the company's business operations and executives. This position will play a key role in ensuring the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, while also serving as a trusted legal advisor to the FLUENT executive team.</p> <p>Note: Persons who do not have experience or qualifications for all of the items listed below but who have substantial experience in one or more areas are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities May Include</p> <ul> <li>Commercial legal support, including commercial and real estate goods, services, lease agreements. </li><li>Regulatory and compliance support, including requests for approvals of changes to licensed activities, conducting compliance audits of operational and retail facilities, license applications and renewals, and responses to notices of violation from regulatory agencies. </li><li>Assist with seeking land use, zoning, entitlement, and other local approvals for new assets. </li><li>Corporate governance support, including maintaining corporate entity compliance in multiple jurisdictions. </li><li>Assist with responses to government investigations, regulatory disciplinary complaints, administrative appeals, and other legal proceedings. </li><li>Assist with M&A transactions as needed. </li><li>Identify and mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. </li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, and compliance, to address legal issues and ensure consistency across the company. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Admission to the Florida Bar (or eligibility for admission to the Florida Bar as Authorized House Counsel) </li><li>Minimum of 4 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years of experience working in-house or representing clients in the cannabis industry </li><li>Understanding of cannabis licensing, corporate law, contracts, real estate, and regulatory compliance </li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills </li><li>Excellent writing skills. Applicants invited to the interview will be asked to submit a writing sample. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and manage multiple projects simultaneously </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctor degree </li><li>State Bar admission </li><li>3 years of prior associate-level experience in a particular area of expertise </li></ul> <p>Preferred Areas of Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Cannabis license applications and regulatory communciations </li><li>Commercial transaction documents, contract drafting and negotiation, and corporate governance </li><li>Familiarity with licensing, regulatory compliance, and litigation management in the cannabis industry </li><li>Land use, zoning, entitlement, and other local approvals for new assets </li><li>Responding to government investigations, regulatory disciplinary complaints, administrative appeals, and other legal proceedings </li></ul> <p>Willingness to travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected</p> <p>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Per state law, must be at least 21 years of age.</p> <p>Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check.</p> <p>Must pass a drug screening</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>This position has no supervisory responsibilities</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.</p> <p>The company will ask you to help out in other departments depending on company needs. This means that you may not always work in the department where you were hired, but teamwork and getting product out to patients is the goal and this means helping out where you are needed is crucial to your success as well as the company's success.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be able to speak and hear. The employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and ability to work on a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds.
