As a cornerstone of our city's commitment to water efficiency, this role offers an opportunity to contribute to Greeley's ongoing efforts in reducing water usage through education, incentives, and innovative initiatives.</p> <p>The Water Efficiency seasonal positions involve diverse responsibilities, including the maintenance and management of a Garden area located at 2503 Reservoir Rd. and by 1001 11th Ave, Greeley, CO, as well as assisting with water efficiency programs. Primary garden duties encompass ensuring the garden remains in good condition throughout the growing season, and actively participating in hands-on tasks such as planting, weeding, trash removal, and executing special construction projects. Primary water program duties involve working directly with irrigation systems, identifying leaks, recording data measurements, collecting soil samples, and representing Greeley with professionalism and enthusiasm.</p> <p>Regardless of weather conditions, there will always be tasks to tackle, rain or shine. The typical schedule for this position is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, five days a week, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening shifts as required by State and Federal regulations.</p> <p>This is an ongoing recruitment, and the posting may close at any time. Join us in making a difference in water efficiency and enhancing the beauty of Greeley's landscape.</p> <p>Experience, Education, and Skills:</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Minimal to no previous experience required. </li><li>Must be 18 years old. </li><li>Possess a valid driver's license with two (2) years of driving experience and good driving record. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>One (1) or more years of experience with native landscape maintenance or parks/forestry maintenance. </li><li>One (1) or more years of experience with irrigation systems. </li><li>One (1) or more years of experience with water conservation/efficiency. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to operate pickups, be trained to tow a small utility trailer. </li><li>Ability to operate machinery and hand garden tools such as power tools, trimmer, lawn-mover, blower and rakes, shovels, and pruners. </li><li>Ability to plant and water flowers, trees, shrubs, pruning using proper techniques. </li><li>Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation and/or gardening. </li><li>Ability to work as a team member was well as independent. </li><li>Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal. </li><li>Customer service skills, including the ability to actively listen, address customer needs, defuse tense situations, and maintain an open, flexible, and friendly demeanor. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results. </li><li>Ability to start and take initiative in completing daily tasks and longer-term special projects. </li><li>Ability to work in a safe manner and report unsafe activity and conditions. </li><li>Basic computer skills with Microsoft products. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate effectively with staff and members of the public. </li><li>Undertake planting tasks, including annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs. </li><li>Perform garden maintenance duties, such as weeding, deadheading blooms, pruning, and hand-watering. </li><li>Maintain hardscapes, including trash bins, neighborhood library box, and dog poop bags dispensers. </li><li>Performs mowing duties as assigned. </li><li>Load and unload garden waste for composting. </li><li>Clean, organize and maintain tools and equipment. </li><li>Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public. </li><li>Occasionally assist with office tasks during inclement weather or engage in other efficiency-related duties. </li><li>Support staff in conducting indoor and outdoor residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and multifamily water assessments. </li><li>Participate in public outreach and educational activities to promote Water Efficiency programs, and events. </li><li>Collect and record field data, including water measurements, soil samples, and sprinkler clock schedules. </li><li>Aid in leak detection for customers. </li><li>Compile and distributes water efficiency program materials </li><li>Offer public information regarding the City's water efficiency programs. </li><li>Computer work as requested by the Manager </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A</p> <p>Work Environment and Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Work outside with exposure to all weather elements. </li><li>Long periods of time involved planting, hand weeding and maintaining grounds using a shovel, rake and other tools. </li><li>Field work requires abilities to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, use handheld tools, and measuring water and water attributes. </li><li>Frequently exposed to wet and the/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. </li><li>Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical and plumbing materials, extreme weather conditions, and noise levels. </li><li>Mix and use chemicals for weed and grass control following label and local regulations. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a group. </li><li>May occasionally work alone and/or evenings or early morning. </li><li>Hours may be flexible depending on assigned area, 40 hours per week, with weekends and evening as assigned. </li><li>Exposure to vegetation that can cause punctures, biting insects, wildlife, and off-leash dogs. </li><li>Occasional office setting may be required and have the ability to sit/stand in positions utilizing a computer or related technology for extended periods. </li><li>Occasional work in commercial buildings, including manufacturing, retail, office or any other non-residential buildings and residential homes. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Communication skills to adequately convey information to contractors, property owners, managers, other personnel, and the general public, in writing and on phone. </li><li>Vision enough to read computer screens and written documents to assist the public and complete work assignments. </li><li>Manual dexterity enough to accurately input, retrieve and verify work assignments and to operate hand and power tools, move objects. </li><li>Duties may occasionally require moderate to heavy physical effort that includes stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; frequent standing or walking; frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds; maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks and frequently working with light objects and light hand tools. </li><li>Ability to move over rough, uneven, and rocky
