<p>The City of Virginia Beach is recruiting for a Planner I/II position to support the Planning Commission, which is an 11 member body appointed by the City Council to review land use and zoning matters in Virginia Beach.</p> <p>This position will be filled as a Planner I or Planner II. To view the official Planner I ($57,012.80 - $72,685.60) job description click here and the job description for Planner II ($62,857.60 - $80,142.40) click here.</p> <p>Duties of the position may include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prepare and present reports for public hearings to various boards or commissions.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare reports and maps on topics such as land use, zoning, area planning, comprehensive planning, Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area, urban design, and wetlands.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide spatial analysis to be utilized for area and comprehensive plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as staff liaison to various City Council appointed boards, commissions, and committees to ensure development follows proper guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate or assist in the evaluation of re-zonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, subdivisions, conditional use permits, variances, and other proposals.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate community review of public and private development projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the development of architectural and design guidelines as related to land use.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct field evaluations and assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Interpret the zoning ordinance and the City Council requirements as they relate to site plans, subdivisions, and Planning Commission agenda items.</p> </li></ul> <p>This position is open until filled. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
