<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Career and Technical Instructor - English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) - (Part-Time)</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Business Solutions & Partnerships</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Business Solutions & Training</p> <p>PRIMARY LOCATION: This position requires travel to client sites across the region. These are, but are not limited to, Fall River, Attleboro, New Bedford, and Taunton MA.</p> <p>POSITION STATUS: This is a part-time, as needed, non-unit, non-benefitted position.</p> <p>SALARY: $35 per hour.</p> <p>STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Career and Technical Instructor - ESOL provide instruction for English Language Proficiency courses. Instructors are responsible for the management of the overall learning environment including the preparation, delivery and assessment of learning activities and the submission of a course syllabus, program reports and course outcomes.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct adult English language learners with diverse learning styles using appropriate ESOL and career-contextualized instructional materials and teaching strategies in face-to-face and/or remote learning environments, promoting active student engagement and learner autonomy. </li><li>Design, adapt, and deliver workforce-focused ESOL curriculum in collaboration with corporate partners and program staff, aligning instruction with the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education and relevant career and technical competencies. </li><li>Integrate English language instruction with career readiness, workplace communication, and technical vocabulary to support students' success in corporate training, credentialing, and employment pathways. </li><li>Assess and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, including workplace-aligned performance tasks, to measure language acquisition and learning outcomes. </li><li>Incorporate digital literacy and workplace technology skills into instruction using educational software, learning management systems, virtual meeting platforms, and other instructional technologies as appropriate. </li><li>Prepare and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials that reflect program goals, corporate needs, and adult learner best practices. </li><li>Prepare students for academic advancement, industry-recognized credentials, career pathways, and successful participation in workplace training environments. </li><li>Identify and refer students in need of additional academic, language, or support services. </li><li>Participate in program planning, professional development, and staff meetings related to corporate training, ESOL instruction, and workforce initiatives. </li><li>Complete all required college and workplace trainings, including but not limited to Title IX, FERPA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Information Security. </li><li>Foster student success, inclusion, and persistence across the college's diverse adult learner population. </li><li>Demonstrate professionalism and consistently uphold Bristol's core values while engaging with students, corporate partners, faculty, and staff. </li><li>Support the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying culturally responsive, equitable, and inclusive teaching practices across all instructional and program activities. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned to support corporate training, workforce development, and ESOL program goals. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Minimum of two years of experience working with adult students from diverse educational and ethnic backgrounds in an instructional setting. </li><li>Demonstrated experience and education related to specific teaching responsibilities. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching style and materials to meet the individual needs of students. </li><li>Demonstrated experience integrating technology into the teaching and learning processes, which may include providing blended, online, and distance learning opportunities for students. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Proven technological proficiency, which may include Microsoft Office 365 applications. </li><li>Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required. </li><li>The ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a Master's degree in education or related field. </li><li>Adult Basic Education (ESOL) licensure or TESOL/TEFL or other related certification. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in ESOL curriculum development. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to design and/or use blended or online learning models. </li><li>Experience using evidenced-based practices or High Impact Practices in adult education. </li><li>Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System. </li><li>Knowledge/experience designing and teaching ESOL in a workplace setting. </li><li>Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>The employee must meet the physical demands and work environment of the position.
