<p>Position Title Assistant/Associate Professor of Horticulture-Small fruit/Tree fruits Division College of Agriculture Department Extension Services Number of hours per week 37.5 Days to be worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Months per year Fiscal (12 months) If modified, list months Job Type Full-Time Campus Main Campus If other location, please indicate Position Number 111935 Advertised Salary Commensurate with education & experience Pay Basis Monthly Job Description</p> <p>The Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Tennessee State University invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Horticulture-Small fruits/Tree fruits with specialization in small fruits or tree fruits. The position will begin January 2025. The incumbent will be a member of an outstanding faculty in Agricultural Sciences that is actively engaged in scholarly activities of teaching, research and extension. The position will have outreach and research responsibilities with teaching responsibilities as needed.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: (1) Developing a research program focused on fruit production, (2) Writing grants and/or collaborating with faculty members to secure extramural funding, (3) Mentoring undergraduates and advising graduate students, (4) Providing dissemination of results through the Cooperative Extension Program, (5) Assisting in other tasks as assigned by the department.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Candidates should be in possession of a Ph.D. in Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field. The successful candidate must be well trained and experienced in fruit production practices on a research scale related to field production and management, data collection and data analysis. Experience with small fruits or tree fruits and Extension programming is preferred. Potential for establishing strong record of extramural grants awards, publication in refereed journals, and teaching is required.
