<p>SHERMAN THOMAS CHARTER SCHOOL</p> <p>CERTIFICATED JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>TEACHER: CLASSROOM</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION</p> <p>Supervisor's Title: Principal</p> <p>Unit Membership: Certificated</p> <p>Current Salary Schedule Placement: Certificated Schedule</p> <p>Overall Responsibilities</p> <p>Provide instruction using principles of human development and appropriate learning strategies to enable students to make academic, vocational, and/or personal growth.</p> <p>Specific Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Teaches reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science/health, art, music, physical education, and technology to students utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Trustees.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and prepare materials needed to assist students.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains positive relationships with all parents through "back-to-school" events, classroom visitations, conferences, telephone conversations, written communication, and work samples so that parents are aware of their children's school progress and adjustment.</p> </li><li> <p>Carries out assigned pupil supervision outside the classroom such as yard duty, assemblies, athletic events, and extracurricular activities, and fire and other emergency drills.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement policies, procedures, and mandates as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and submit requested reports and plans in an accurate and timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in School, District, and department activities and meetings including professional development.</p> </li><li> <p>Exhibit a positive outlook toward the educational process by maintaining professional rapport with colleagues, parents, students, and members of the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Work, communicate, consult and cooperate with other members of the school staff, including administration, counseling, clerical, and other teachers including those having posts of special responsibility and parents/guardians to ensure the best interest of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals and student teachers (when applicable).</p> </li><li> <p>Foster positive relationships between students, staff, and community members.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise students to assure their safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor student achievement and adjust instructions in response to student data.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in all IEP's, 504's, and SST's, even if they are after 3:15. *</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in all Family Night Events, such as New Parent Orientation, Burger Bash, Patriotic Concert, Open House-Spring, Graduation, etc. *</p> </li><li> <p>Provide detailed emergency lesson plans for substitutes.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all Osha/Covid-19 protocols set in place.</p> </li><li> <p>Other related duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Your yearly bonus is given to pay for these after contract events.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Specific knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Content of instructional assignment. </li><li>Principles of learning, instruction, and assessment appropriate to the assignment. </li></ul> <p>Specific Ability to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist in an array of learners in developing age-appropriate knowledge and skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain patience when confronted with challenges and stressful situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to the successful fulfillment of the District Mission.</p> </li><li> <p>Work cooperatively with others to make plans and decisions and to implement programs and activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct responsibilities of the position based on information and instructions provided in English.</p> </li><li> <p>Learn and appropriately apply District policies and procedures and other regulations related to the position.</p> </li><li> <p>Apply strategies appropriate to the age level of the assigned students.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain appropriate confidentiality about the status of students, classroom, and school activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Gather and analyze data to determine student's abilities and instructional needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate calculator, computer, and data entry terminal.</p> </li><li> <p>Learn and apply current technology to assigned duties.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Graduate-level coursework in education.</p> </li></ol> <p>Experience:</p> <ol> <li>Completion of student teaching. </li></ol> <p>License:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Valid California Teaching Credential for age/subject assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid California Driver's Licence</p> </li></ol> <p>Requirements / Qualifications</p>
