Performs urinary bladder catheterizations under the supervision of the circulating nurse.</p> <p>Responsible for maintaining the integrity, safety and efficiency of the sterile field. Uses aseptic technique to arrange instruments and supplies. Performs instrument, sponge, and sharp counts.</p> <p>Demonstrates correct technique in handling of instruments, sutures, specimens, and medications.</p> <p>Consistently delivers high quality care demonstrating surgical technology knowledge and skills in the operating room in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Requires high school diploma or GED and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or eligibility to take the CST exam.</p> <p>The newly graduated Surgical Technologist must obtain certification within 12 months of hire date to maintain employment unless an extension has been granted by the OR Manager All grandfathered CST's must maintain CEU's as defined by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. (60 CEU's every 4 years The CST must maintain an active certification throughout employment</p>
