<p>Stormwater Technician 1</p> <p>Location: 22211 US Highway 19, Clearwater, FL</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or Tuesday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.</p> <p>Are you looking for a hands-on career that allows you to work outdoors, operate heavy equipment, and directly contribute to protecting your community and environment? Pinellas County is seeking a dedicated and safety-minded Stormwater Technician 1 to join our Public Works team.</p> <p>In this essential role, you'll assist with the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of stormwater drainage systems and related infrastructure. You'll operate a variety of tools and equipment, from hand tools to dump trucks and skid steers, while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.</p> <p>This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy physical work, take pride in public service, and are ready to respond during emergency events such as hurricanes or flooding. You'll be part of a team that plays a critical role in keeping our community safe, clean, and resilient.</p> <p>What Would You Do?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Performs maintenance and repair of Pinellas County stormwater Drainage systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates heavy and light motor vehicles to transport materials and supplies to and from worksites; Operates heavy equipment at stockpile sites.</p> </li><li> <p>Flags traffic and installs work signs in designated work areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Lays sod and coco mat, installs silt and turbidity screens to ensure compliance with NPDES requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs manual labor for extended periods of time under hot and humid conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>Collects and inputs data into truck logs, assists the Crew Chief with input of data into the record-keeping systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs related work as assigned or required.</p> </li></ul> <p>What Do You Need To Have?</p> <ul> <li> <p>6 months experience operating one or more of the following pieces of equipment:</p> </li><li> <p>Dump truck (small, e.g., Five (5) yard), Tractors (light to medium size), Truck (straight), Bobcat, Dump trucks/with 10,000 lb. Trailer (A), Twelve (12) yard dump truck (B), Front end loader (small), Riding trenchers, Tank truck, Small backhoe; or</p> </li><li> <p>A Public Works Academy training certificate for equipment operators; or</p> </li><li> <p>A Pinellas County employee equipment certification that includes experience or training on job related equipment; or</p> </li><li> <p>An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License B with Airbrakes upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain job related license(s) or qualifications directly related to the job as a prerequisite to appointment or to acquire those qualifications or license(s) within six (6) months of hire or a period-of-time not to exceed one (1) year as determined appropriate:</p> </li><li> <p>FDOT Temporary Traffic Control (TTC)</p> </li><li> <p>Illicit Discharge</p> </li><li> <p>Spill Prevention</p> </li><li> <p>NIMS Response Training; ICS 100, 200, & 700</p> </li><li> <p>Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector Certification</p> </li><li> <p>OSHA 10-hour</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of: and ability to operate light heavy equipment required and necessary to complete maintenance activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special emergency, and/or disaster situations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Highly Desirable</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED). </li><li>Current Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A and endorsement if any.
