<p>APPLY NOW</p> <p>This is a full-time position with the St. Charles County Family Court - Juvenile Division (11th Judicial Circuit). This is a county-paid position.</p> <p>Starting Salary: $52,225.88 per year (with benefits)</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION: Supervise juveniles and families referred to the Juvenile Office for child abuse/neglect, status offenses, and law violations. This includes assessing juveniles and families for risks and needs, formulating recommendations, and ensuring that they follow through with recommended or court ordered services. The position works under the direction of the Supervisor - Court Services. and may require working evenings and weekends</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Interviews and assesses families who have been referred to the Juvenile Officer for child abuse/neglect, delinquency, and status offenses to determine appropriate services and recommendations for court. Services and recommendations should serve the best interest of a child. </li><li>Completes criminal record checks on family members and possible and potential placement providers. Obtains records from other agencies to include: CD, schools, hospitals, mental health, and drug treatment providers. </li><li>Serves summonses and subpoenas. </li><li>Makes recommendations on behalf of the Juvenile Officer in all court proceedings, including but not limited to: Protective Custody hearings, First Return, Adjudication, Disposition, Motion to Modify, Permanency Planning Review, and Termination of Parental Rights. </li><li>Prepares written Social Investigations that will be admitted to court. </li><li>Prepares recommendations for temporary custody and services needed for the juvenile and parents or legal guardians. </li><li>Prepares order for court as required by hearing. </li><li>Testifies in court, under oath, to justify information and recommendations contained in your Social Investigation. </li><li>Assists in the preparation of the disposition report or report return to advise referral source of action taken on delinquency matters. </li><li>Supervises cases involving children in foster care. Helps ensure the families follow through with recommended or court ordered services and treatment. </li><li>Conducts field work to include visits to homes, residential facilities, schools, and service providers. </li><li>Collaborate and attend meetings with outside agencies including CD, , schools, police departments, and service providers. </li><li>Reads juveniles their rights and observe police interrogations to ensure due process. </li><li>Observes Child Advocacy Center interviews when applicable. </li><li>Enters and updates data in the juvenile information system. </li><li>Provides information to Court Appointed Special Advocate in child protection case in accordance with state statute and court policy/procedures and, when possible, facilitates restitution. </li><li>Visits face-to-face with child while under court jurisdiction and alternative care. </li><li>Responds to inquiries from Children's Division, law enforcement, services providers, and others as permitted by law. </li><li>Attends work related trainings and conferences. </li><li>Occasional on-call duties. </li><li>Meets regularly with the Unit Supervisor to discuss case management. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Unit Supervisor or Juvenile Officer/Family Court Administrator. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Criminology/Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited university. </li></ul> <p>Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record. </li></ul> <p>Job Experience</p> <ul> <li>1-3 years of experience. </li><li>Experience in the juvenile justice field or child welfare system preferred, in particular, a professional position within the courts. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, skills and abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must have considerable knowledge of local Court policies and procedures. </li><li>Requires considerable knowledge of Missouri statutes, in particular the Juvenile Code and the Criminal Code, and Child Abuse/Neglect and Permanency Planning. </li><li>Must have considerable knowledge of the Supreme Court Rules of Practice and Procedure in Juvenile Court. </li><li>Requires computer skills in data entry, word processing, and modification of standardized forms as necessary. </li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills. </li><li>Requires the ability to oversee case management for juveniles and family members. </li><li>Ability to advise and provide interpretation regarding the application of policies, procedures and standards to specific situations. </li><li>Requires the ability to apply principles of planning and coordinating. </li><li>Ability to exercise independent judgement to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution. </li></ul> <p>For Questions or additional information, contact the St. Charles County Juvenile Justice Center at (636)949-3040</p> <p>TO APPLY: All applications must be submitted using the APPLY NOW link above.
