If you're optimistic, forward-thinking, and interested in shaping the future of travel with us, we'd love to hear from you.</p> <p>Your Purpose:</p> <p>As a Labor Relations Manager you will report to the Director of People & Culture and will be responsible for developing and implementing labor and employee relations policies, procedures, and programs to maintain positive relationships between management and employees. This role will facilitate and manage labor and employee relations on behalf of the company while ensuring compliance with labor laws, facilitating effective communication, and resolving employee complaints and disputes.</p> <p>If you're a people-person looking for a role where you'll be empowered to own your zone, inspired to learn, and have the confidence to bounce back from setbacks, this is the perfect opportunity!</p> <p>Your Role:</p> <p>Strategy and Program Development</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement labor and employee relations strategies and programs, in alignment with overall business goals. </li><li>Prepare and analyze data on labor and employee relations trends and make recommendations to senior management. </li><li>Use surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues. After analyzing the information, make recommendations on changes. </li></ul> <p>Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Maintain knowledge of employment and labor laws and collective bargaining agreements. </li><li>Monitor and explain labor and employee relations regulations and legislation to managers, supervisors, and employees. </li><li>Collaborate with leadership on matters of policy and terms of memoranda of understanding before and throughout the negotiation process. </li><li>Support FRA regulatory compliance efforts by assisting with program initiatives and providing appropriate guidance as needed. </li></ul> <p>Negotiations and Representation</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with legal counsel and departments in the preparation for and participation in negotiation with employees and labor groups, which includes the analysis and interpretation of labor contracts. </li><li>Act as the company's representative in administrative and legal proceedings, including contract negotiations, arbitrations, and mediations. </li><li>Analyze information and data necessary to define and discern cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances. </li></ul> <p>Training and Advising</p> <ul> <li>Advise and train managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. </li><li>Develop further training as needed. </li></ul> <p>Complaint and Grievance Resolution</p> <ul> <li>Investigate and resolve labor complaints and grievances and assist with employee relations matters. </li></ul> <p>Other Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Engage with leaders and employees in the field to identify concerns related to labor and employee relations, offering proactive guidance and anticipating emerging needs. </li><li>Provide support to P&C Business Partners as needed, including participation in the on-call rotation for night and weekends resolution. ensuring continuous coverage and timely issue resolution while providing alignment with organizational goals and priorities. </li><li>Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Please note that this Job Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the incumbent for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time, with or without notice.</p> <p>Managerial Responsibility:</p> <ul> <li>This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide training, guidance and/or work direction to other employees within the organization in the management and execution of their areas of responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Experience & Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. </li><li>5+ years of proven experience in a labor relations role within a multi-location, unionized environment. </li><li>Experience with labor relations within the transportation industry is a plus. </li><li>Certification from a recognized HR or labor relations body is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations. </li><li>Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. </li><li>Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills with a thorough understanding of negotiation techniques. </li><li>Understanding of compensation administration. </li><li>Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. </li><li>Proficiency in labor relations software and HR management systems. </li><li>Ability to work onsite in a hybrid role located in Orlando or South Florida </li><li>Ability to travel within Brightline Florida's footprint as needed </li><li>While not part of their daily demand, the incumbent should be willing to work evening hours, weekends and holidays, as needed to meet operational demands. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>Works in a clean, air-conditioned office space, free of noise, dust, and humidity.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Occasional lifting of light items required.
