<p>Summary</p> <p>Reports to the Clinical Manager. Performs all duties of an Occupational Therapist and serves as a resource to staff, rehabilitation teams and Interns. Be on their team. </li></ul> <p>Provides occupational therapy procedures for patients to restore function, prevent disability and maximize potential and quality of life by:</p> <ul> <li>Performing the Essential Functions outlined in the job description of an Occupational Therapist I. </li></ul> <p>Serves as a resource to staff, rehabilitation teams and Interns by:</p> <ul> <li>Participating in the orientation of new Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Aides. </li><li>Participating in the development of new patient care programs and/or revising existing programs. </li><li>Presenting in-services to staff and students. </li><li>Serving as Clinical Instructor of occupational therapy Interns. </li><li>Communicating with other Occupational Therapists, Managers and Coordinators informally or in formal meetings as needed. </li></ul> <p>Supports the department by:</p> <ul> <li>Overseeing and keeping records of equipment maintenance and department supplies. </li></ul> <p>Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:</p> <ul> <li>Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed. </li></ul> <p>ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. </li><li>Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes. </li><li>Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. </li><li>Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. </li><li>Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department. </li><li>Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. </li><li>Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance. </li><li>Complies with established organization and department policies. </li><li>Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Beacon's six-point Operating System, referred to as The Beacon Way:</p> <ul> <li>Leverage innovation everywhere. </li><li>Cultivate human talent. </li><li>Embrace performance improvement. </li><li>Build greatness through accountability. </li><li>Use information to improve and advance. </li><li>Communicate clearly and continuously. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree of Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of occupational therapy. Requires national registration in occupational therapy and a license to practice occupational therapy in Indiana (or demonstrated eligibility). At least two years of recent clinical experience is required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Requires the ability to effectively use all evaluation tools, modalities, exercise equipment, ADL aides, and splinting/orthotic materials typically used to provide occupational therapy. </li><li>Demonstrates the interpersonal skills needed to communicate in a tactful, sincere, effective manner with patients, families, healthcare professionals and various Hospital staff. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Works in a patient care environment requiring physical exertion, frequent changes in job demands, and certain undesirable patient care activities. </li><li>May be exposed to bio-hazards and normal hazards encountered in a community environment. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Requires the physical ability, stamina, visual acuity, and manual dexterity (i.e. to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, push wheelchairs/carts, lift or pull patients or supplies, lift and transfer patients, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position. </li></ul>
