<p>Overview</p> <p>The City of Boston's Office of Youth Employment & Opportunity is seeking a Communications Fellow to support the Department's external and internal communications. This position is for self-motivated individuals with an interest in communications, community engagement, and youth development.</p> <p>Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Engagement & Outreach, the Communications Fellow will advance the development of external and internal communications for the Office of Youth Employment & Opportunity.</p> <p>The Engagement and Outreach Team is led by the Senior Manager of Engagement and Outreach and includes three full time staff members and four part-time interns.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Important responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Implements communication strategies that support the organizational goals of employing, developing, and engaging Boston's young people. </li><li>Develops and disseminates messaging for diverse audiences from senior leadership. </li><li>Regularly reviews and updates website content to reflect seasonal employment updates, department announcements, and relevant department events. </li><li>Monitors, measures, and tracks the communication campaign and website performance. </li><li>Advances communications and marketing special projects and initiatives, as needed. </li><li>Prepares reports on website traffic, user engagement, and content performance, at times in collaboration with the Data, Research, and Evaluation Team, as needed. </li><li>Drafts and develops seasonal impact reports. </li><li>Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards. </li><li>Works with the internal design and IT teams to ensure seamless communication and implementation of web-related and marketing projects. </li><li>Maintain digital media archives, including photos and videos. </li><li>Liaise with the media and handle requests for interviews, statements, etc., as needed. </li><li>Performs related work as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Entrance Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field. </li><li>Three years of relevant full or part-time experience in email marketing, content creation, and/or website management. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong grasp of grammar, tone, and audience-specific messaging. </li><li>Experience with email marketing automation software like Constant Contact. </li><li>Experience with graphic design and content production software like Canva. </li><li>Experience with automated text message campaign software like Genasys, a plus. </li><li>Working knowledge of Google Suite. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects and maintain attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a diverse team. </li><li>Comfortable receiving and integrating feedback. </li><li>Dependability, flexibility, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment. </li><li>Experience interacting with young people of different cultures and backgrounds is preferred due to the diverse population of constituents that we serve. </li><li>Bilingual and/or bi-cultural persons are strongly encouraged to apply. </li></ul> <p>C.O.R.I. Check Required.</p> <p>BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.</p> <p>Terms:</p> <ul> <li>Start and End Date: Flexible </li><li>Hours/Pay: Up to 30 hours per week, $32.00/hr. </li><li>This part-time, two year position does not provide insurance benefits. </li><li>In-person position requires attendance at department events, as needed. </li><li>Laptops and/or tablets will be provided. </li></ul>
