This is a professional position with good work/life balance doing meaningful work for an independent agency of the State of Nebraska. The Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission enforces the State's campaign finance laws, its lobbying laws and its governmental ethics laws.</p> <p>As a member of our audit team you will:</p> <ul> <li>Review, analyze and audit candidate and political committee campaign </li></ul> <p>filings to ensure compliance with the campaign finance provisions of the</p> <p>Nebraska Political Accountability and Disclosure Act.</p> <ul> <li>Provide assistance to candidates, political committees, and their </li></ul> <p>contributors with filing and reporting questions.</p> <ul> <li>Provide assistance to candidates and political committees regarding other </li></ul> <p>regulations such as the permissible use of campaign funds.</p> <ul> <li>Respond to questions from members of the general public seeking </li></ul> <p>candidate and campaign finance information maintained by the</p> <p>Commission.</p> <ul> <li>Conduct inquiries and use investigative methods to reconcile reporting </li></ul> <p>differences and to resolve matters involving detection of errors,</p> <p>irregularities, and failure to file.</p> <ul> <li>Work with the General Counsel for investigation when campaign violations </li></ul> <p>are discovered or campaign finance complaints are filed.</p> <ul> <li>Review transactions for accuracy within the database system performing </li></ul> <p>an internal audit function.</p> <ul> <li>Assist with updating campaign finance brochures and guides. </li><li>Periodically assist with accounting functions for internal control purposes </li></ul> <p>and other related duties.</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Senior Auditor or the </li></ul> <p>Deputy Director.</p> <p>Benefit Highlights:</p> <ul> <li>13 paid holidays. </li><li>Vacation and sick leave equating to 24 days your first year, begins accruing </li></ul> <p>immediately.</p> <ul> <li>Military leave. </li><li>156% state-matched retirement, equals at least $1.75 per hour (at the </li></ul> <p>minimum starting wage).</p> <ul> <li>Potential Tuition reimbursement. </li><li>Deferred Compensation Plan. </li><li>Employee assistance program. </li><li>81.7% employer paid health insurance plans, value up to $17.95 per hour (at </li></ul> <p>the most expensive family plan with the most coverage).</p> <ul> <li>Dental and vision insurance plans. </li><li>Employer-paid $20,000 life insurance policy. </li><li>Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) through the Federal </li></ul> <p>government.</p> <ul> <li>Note the Commission does not sponsor non-immigrant work visas for this </li></ul> <p>position.</p> <p>Hiring Rate:</p> <p>Pay range is $22.975 - $33.867 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.</p> <p>Requirements/Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting (see also Legal Requirements).</p> <p>Legal Requirements: Positions in this classification are subject to Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 - Minimum Standards for Government Employees Identified as Auditors. The basic requirement is a Bachelor's degree in business administration or the equivalent, with at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing. Any combination of education with a concentration in accounting and auditing experience acceptable to the Auditor of Public Accounts, may be substituted for the educational requirements in Section 002.01.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in auditing or accounting positions.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Possess good attention to detail. </li><li>Possess strong computer skills for using Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and customized software. </li><li>Possess an understanding of computerized or electronic file management and online filing (database systems). </li><li>Possess good analytical and investigative skills. </li><li>Ability to communicate verbally (in person or over the phone) and in writing (letters or emails) with filers, members of the public, and co-workers. </li><li>Ability to process mathematical equations. </li><li>Ability to file a report similar to a tax return. </li><li>Ability to interpret and gain an understanding of our Statutes and Rules. </li><li>Ability to provide guidance regarding our Statutes and rules to candidates, campaign committees, individual and business filers and public officials. </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <p>We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
