<p>Job Description:</p> <p>CHAPLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL</p> <p>1.0_FTE MUSIC TEACHER</p> <p>Chaplin Elementary School is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Music Education teacher to deliver high quality instruction beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The successful applicant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. He/she will work in collaboration with administration, teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff to develop effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals. </li><li>Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate best instructional practices, including differentiated instruction, collaborative learning, and technology integration. </li><li>Teach various aspects of music education, including vocal and instrumental music, music theory, and music history. </li><li>Foster a classroom environment that is welcoming, respectful, and supportive of all students, promoting equity and inclusion. </li><li>Encourage students to explore their musical talents and express themselves creatively through performance and composition. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and skill development. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student learning and create opportunities for students to showcase their musical abilities. </li><li>Participates in faculty meetings, department meetings, and professional collaboration as appropriate during the assignment. </li><li>Encourages positive student behavior consistent with district expectations. </li><li>Selects and uses appropriate instructional materials, technology, and equipment to support learning. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of student records and information. </li><li>Experience teaching instrumental and/or band preferred. </li><li>Experience leading a school chorus preferred. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <ul> <li>Assists with school-wide activities, assemblies, and supervision duties as assigned. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrator. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Music Education [Music, PK-12 (049)] </li></ul> <p>Please send application, letter of interest, resume, copy of license/certification and three letters of reference to Sarai Ortega, c/o Andrew Skarzynski, Superintendent, 304 Parish Hill Road, Chaplin, CT 06235.
