Our mission is to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare, and supportive services to those in our community, regardless of their ability to pay.</p> <p>Founded more than 40 years ago on the belief that every person of every age and income level should have access to the best healthcare options available, Harbor Community Health Centers is dedicated to providing cutting-edge healthcare services for residents of the San Pedro area, including preventive options like routine, school and sports physicals, immunizations, ob/gyn care, and health screenings, as well as treatment of both acute and chronic illnesses and diseases. Begun as the "storefront" Harbor Free Clinic in 1970, today the clinic features two locations in San Pedro - a general care clinic and a location dedicated to pediatrics.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The primary function of the DA is to provide direct and indirect support to the dentists in the delivery of patient care. The DA must function under the direct supervision of a dentist. Familiarity working within a FQHC is a plus.</p> <p>EXPECTATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Adheres to all HCHC Policies and Procedures </li><li>Observes all policies and procedures for use of time-keeping system, including attendance, tardiness, proper clocking procedure, overtime authorization, and that employee nametag is clearly visible </li><li>Conducts self in a manner that represents HCHC's core values at all times </li><li>Maintains a positive and respectful attitude with all work-related contacts </li><li>Communicates regularly with her/his immediate supervisor about Departmental and HCHC concerns </li><li>Consistently reports to work prepared to perform the duties of the position </li><li>Meets productivity standards and performs duties as workload necessitates </li><li>Provide strong customer service to staff and community </li><li>Proven organizational and problem solving skills </li><li>Able to track details and manage multiple projects simultaneously </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) </li><li>Basic understanding of financial/budgeting process </li><li>Ability to handle and track details and verify accuracy </li><li>Completes work on time with quality results and can manage multiple interruptions </li><li>All support positions will be cross-trained. </li></ul> <p>MISSION AND VALUES</p> <p>Our mission is to provide quality, comprehensive, healthcare and supportive services to those in our community, regardless of their ability to pay. Employees must possess a strong commitment to the mission, policies, goals and philosophy of HCHC.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:</p> <ul> <li>Call patients from the waiting room, guide them to the dental chair and at the conclusion of the visit, walk patients to the front to arrange follow-up appointments according to the dentist's instructions </li><li>Review patient medical history, ensuring it is completely filled out and alerting the dentist of medical conditions prior to procedures </li><li>Take blood pressure readings </li><li>Take, radiographs, as directed by clinician </li><li>Take and pour study model impressions, as directed by clinician </li><li>Prepare the patient and set up dental procedure trays </li><li>Assist dentist during patient procedures </li><li>Clean and disinfect operatory and equipment according to established infection control and safety guidelines </li><li>Stock rooms in between patients </li><li>Sterilize and organize dental instruments </li><li>Maintain equipment according to manufacturer recommendations to ensure good working order </li><li>Follow HCHC standards for Universal Precautions when working with potentially infectious materials (blood or body fluids) </li><li>Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations </li><li>Demonstrate attitude of cooperation and professionalism </li><li>Maintain harmonious relationship with unit/co-worker, providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality patient care </li><li>Seek appropriate input from manager on interpersonal relationships that affect unit harmony and patient care </li><li>Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings and outreach </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Required education, experience and/or training:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or higher </li><li>Completion of DA course </li><li>Current DA Certificate </li><li>Current CPR certificate </li><li>Dental Radiation and Safety Compliance Certificate </li><li>Certificate of completion of Board-approved 8-hour course on Infection Control </li><li>Certificate of completion of Board-approved 2-hour course on California Dental Practice Act. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Three years of relevant experience </li><li>Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills </li><li>Flexible, mature individual who is capable of decision making and problem solving </li><li>Ability to work with all levels of management </li><li>Ability to work effectively and collaboratively </li><li>Ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, social, and economic backgrounds </li><li>Fluency in Spanish </li><li>Basic computer skills. </li></ul> <p>HR Procedural Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Legal authorization to work in the United States </li><li>A valid California Driver's license with clean records and access to an insured automobile </li><li>Clear all post offers, pre-employment background screening, and education verification </li><li>Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a qualifying medical/religious exemption. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust.</p> <p>Hours: HCHC is open Monday - Thursday 7:30am-6:00pm, Friday 8am-5pm. This is a Full-Time Non Exempt position, and the employee is expected to work an 8-hour-day and any overtime must be approved by the Supervisor in advance.
